Nice restaurant South-ish London??

Options
Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant in either the very south london area (Wimbledon perhaps) or in central/west end.

It's my first anniversary at the weekend and I can't think of what to plan.

    Clapham:

Strada in the High Street just opposite and past Sainsbury. Italian. Good food and good prices.

Bodeans in Clapham also. Spare ribs, steaks etc. Website should give more details.

South London is enormous. Tell me the area more precisely and I'll come up with a few more.

    Wimbledon Village:

    Strada, again
    Pizza Express

Giraffe (world food - reasonable and unusual - rather busy but well worth it)

The Common Room - a bar/restaurant but more expensive.

I recommend Giraffe for something a bit different. Their speciality fruit smoothies are great too.

Whichever you choose, happy eating! zeatingyt1.gif

  • Hi,
not sure how to do links properly, so this may not work....

    http://www.toptable.co.uk/specialoffers.cfm?lid=457

it's not the easiest site to narrow your search on but they have lots of offers on the site if you book your table through them. There are normally reviews on restaurants as well. There are sometimes some dinner & theatre combinations if that's of interest but are better websites for that kind of thing, although they tend to exclude weekend shows.

OK fair enough. I thought I'd put it in the right place cos it wasn't exactly moneysaving.

    Cheers

  • Lighthouse Restaurant on Ridgeway in Wimbledon (at top of hill turn left at mini roundabout) is excellent, but not in same price range as earlier suggestions, depends what you want to spend - prob £50 a head here with bottle of wine.
  • If South Croydon's easy to get to for you, Little Bay off Selsdon Road is a fantastic little place and cheap too. I used to live just around the corner but have defected to North London now. Failing that, the restaurant opposite it is also good and reasonably priced, i think it's called Boulevard.
