iPhone 4 - PAYG
I'm looking for some advice, so thought I would ask here first.
Long story short, my iPhone 3G (with OS4.1) has been rendered useless due to the buggy software. As I use the iPhone for my work, I need a working phone and so I'm opting to upgrade to the new iPhone 4 while I take a dispute out with Apple/O2 over the 3G which is still under warrenty - mainly because I need a working phone.
As I use PAYG, I am a little confussed by the blog on the O2 site which reads as follows. . .
"Option 3: Buy the iPhone 4 on Pay & Go.
iPhone 4 on Pay & Go isn't currently available but will be soon. Check back here for updates."
and elsewhere on the iPhone 4 section on the site . . .
"Pay & Go customers upgrading to iPhone 4
If you're already on Pay & Go with O2 and buying the iPhone 4, you'll need to transfer your existing O2 number, balance and tariff onto a new micro sim. You can do this by filling in this form."
Now, which is it? Is the iPhone 4 available on PAYG or not.

you cant buy the phone on PAYG yet - but if you have one you've bought from apple/somewhere else you can request your number be transferred onto a microsim* (iPhone 4 only takes the new smaller microsims)
Don't work for o2 but thats what it seems to mean and what the other networks have on offerYes Your Dukeiness0 -

I've got a sim cutter on order ( http://www.cutmysim.com/ ) so will be testing cut sims in my iphone4 and ipad very soon ;-)0 -
I bought an iphone direct from apple an it is unlocked to any network and am currently using it PAYG. I made the microsim myself by taking a pair of scissors to a regular sim with the assisstance of a template and a youtube video. So it is possible. It is all working perfectly.0

I have ordered a iPhone 4 from Apple today, sim free. So with the micro sim card, I can then transfer all my O2 PAYG info onto the card and I'm away.0

Not sure I'd risk an iPhone 4 if I was looking for a phone critical to my work.0 -

It will be interesting to see how long you wait as it says "3 weeks" on their website, but I'm sure it said 3 weeks when I looked at it 2 weeks ago!0 -

My confirmation email says the same, putting me up to the 16th Aug mark for dispatch. Apple UK stated that there was a 3 week delay and backlog due to "high demand".0 -

It would be far faster to get it aswapped under warranty than get a new iPhone 4.
