BT Vision beware!

We decided to move from SKY to BT vision last week, so we could save some money and still watch SKY Sports 1/2. Things started really well, the new box came through and the set-up was easy.
But then came the problems; firstly, you have to buy a package if you want the best deal on the sports channels, which was either Films, Music or Kids. Trouble was, we have no kids and we use the net (Spotify) for music, so we went for the films. But after we installed, we found the films were so old that even channel 5 would probably have laughed (eg Back to the Future)
We then found that their "on demand" programmes such as "Misfits" which has been on E4 and Channel 4 for free over the last few months have a 99p charge on BT Vision each time you want to view. To be fair their "on demand" films were £3.50-£4.00 but the choice was limited and it only costs £10 a month for unlimited movies with Lovefilm or Blockbuster.
However, the main reason for this thread is that when we decided to cancel our 10 day trial, we were then told that we will still have to pay £4.99 for a year. Typical BT....they get you whichever way they can.
Our advice to to talk to SKY, tell them you are going to cancel and listen to what the offer you. BUT, dont cancel (what we did) as the offer they give you then and there will not be the same offer after cancellation.
Good luck!!
PS; we also found out that SKY sports news will soon be leaving BT Vision.

Where to start with the mistakes you have made in this post...
First off... you do not have to take a subscription pack such as films or music with BT Vision to get discounted Sky Sports. They have a 24 month contract at £17.99 (40GB broadband with security) where you do not pay for any subscriptions and can add Sky Sports 1 or 2 for £6.99 each or both for £11.99. That package also comes with ESPN and On Demand sports.
Secondly there is no 10 day cooling off period with BT Vision which has been clarified here in the past. They give you 10 days to return any equipment you were sent but the service you have up until activation to cancel the order... A letter sent to you will clearly differentiate between your cancellation rights for the Vision box and the Vision service.0 -
Shame you only see it for what it is after the event Ian.....0

Thanks for the feedback and pointing out how many mistake I have made....
However, I didn't want to take out a 24 month contract and was told by the BT advisor that I could take out a 12 month contract but I would need to take out a subscription package to do so.
I was also told by the advisor that the 10 day cooling off period included everything and if I didn't like the service everything would be cancelled. Unfortunately I never searched all over this forum to find this out, as I strangely believed the advisor. Oh and I never received a letter explaining this.0 -
If I was told that I would be fighting my corner for all charges to be stopped.0
