.............please delete items.

There are no messages in the inbox, nor the outbox, just a flashing envelope icon that appears when you get a message, other items have been deleted to make room for the memory such as photos, wallpapers and ringtones.

Have tried to erase call logs as well, but there are some numbers with a red mark next to them, but when you try to erase them, the phone freezes up and you have to remove the battery to get it to turn back on again.

I have another 6500 which works perfectly well, just wondered if this one was a friday afternoon job!!!
And yes the lady in the avatar is me

What was your old phone? Could you put your sim into your old phone? You may find the sim card is full but because the 6500 cannot view text messages stored on the sim, you may need to delete the messages from an older phone. Some older phones used to store messages on the sim card, mainly Samsungs do this.

I have taken the sim card out of my husbands 6500 and put it in my phone, it shows as no messages in the inbox, but after about 5 minutes 3 texts came through

the texts arent stored on the sim, they are stored on the phone, yet the phone shows them as not being there, cannot retrieve messages as memory full, please delete items

That won't work because he's got the same make and model phone. Have you got an old Samsung you could try?

Could it be a software problem, the sim works fine in my 6500 phone just not his.

You can view the messages stored on the sim on a 6500, goto Messaging > Options > Sim Messages/Inbox. How much memory is free on the handset?
