Dd (11) complained of her tummy being really hot the other night (thursday) and a bit painful, she has been eating/drinking fine and seems ok one minute and not the next hence me not taking her to a doctors. On friday she went to a party and then a sleepover and said she was fine and then as soon as we got home and she sat down she said she felt off again. Saturday she woke with a hot tummy at 4am and like i said has been moping around one minute then ok the next.
If i call the docs tom i have to rush her down there when they say (with hardly any notice with our docs)..i have 5 children to mind and her and so would mean walking..i really dont know what to do for the best as dont have much faith in docs for things like this as i gurantee she will be told it is a 'virus' and sent home again which will be a long winded nightmare for all of us. Of course i dont mind taking her if i think there will be some help but doubt it.
So anyone know what it might be? I know no one is allowed to give advice etc which i'm not asking for just getting quite frustrated with the ill one min fine the next etc!
Thanks x

I'm sorry but you really should take her to the hospital. It could b something simple like something she's ate. But it could be something serious like appendix.
This forum's not really the right place to get medical advice, try ringing NHS Direct on 0845 4647.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

They can call you back if you're worried about the cost of the phone call.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Hi thanks for the replies.
Barneysmum i think hospital is a little drastic only because she was like this on Thursday..i told her she shouldn't go to school friday and she perked up. At the party on friday and the sleepover friday night and the cinema saturday she was fine and then yesterday she was fine running round with her friend and then funny again as soon as her friend had gone when it came to her going to bed. She has been fine all day and now we are home she is sitting on the sofa not feeling great again..very hard for me to determine what is wrong. She was singing away a minute ago but then she will say she feels off..Dh has checked nhs direct.0 -
At her age it could be "woman's problems"? My daughter had a crampy/gripy tummy on and off for a few months before she finally started her periods just before she turned 12, and I'm sure I did too but my mum couldn't remember (it was a long time ago:p)
I hope whatever it is u get it sorted, its worth a trip to the Doc just to be reassured its nothing nasty0 -
i know were not allowed to give medical advice, but we have had something similar to that doing the rounds here at the mo
burning hot and listless one minute - sleeps for a few hours and then is fine for a while, before it all kicks off again. lasted 2-3 days, and has now gone, thankfully

Is she actually Hot or just complaining that her tummy feels hot? If its the latter could it be an attention thing my DD went through a phase of having tummy aches this time last year she is twelve now. It eventually fizzled out after she settled into her new school.:jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Hi thanks for the replies.
Sofababe i said the same to my sister last night. I was around 10 when i started so it could be but not sure..i had a chat with her about it today and she kind of shrugged her shoulders so a possibility.
Flea72 that is exactly what she is like..sat fine one min then sitting down saying she feels 'funny'..really cant pin point what it is..very odd.
xmaslolly she does have a hot tummy. She isn't the kind of child to attention seek and tbh not sure why she would so not my first thought although a possibilty.
She insisted she wanted dinner so she had some soup and dry toast, about an hour after she said she felt fine again and has been ok again since..infact she has been out playing with the rabbit and is now tidiying her room..i will see what she is like in the morning and call the docs if she is not right still as we have periods like this.
Thanks for your help..x0 -
Can be very tricky...my daughter complained of stomache aches off and on for a few days. She was 14 at the time and already menstruating, so we all thought it was just normal cramps. Then I got a panicked phone call one afternoon, rush home load her into the car and drive her to A&E. Due to a backlog we weren't seen right away. By the time we were seen the pain had passed and she was walking around smiling and being extremely nonchalant. She actually told doctors "I'm fine, its just a tummy ache, my mum is just worried about nothing!" (thanks!) I was beginning to look a right wally and was questioning my impulse to take her to hospital. Only one doctor paused and asked me if she normally looked so flushed (she's very fair, but now had very flushed face). We were about to be sent home when he insisted we get a blood test first. Blood test showed she had elevated white blood cells, meaning infection. She had surgery the next morning, just before the appendix ruptured. An appendix can 'grumble' for quite a while and alter between being fine to quite bad pain. If I was you I would get daughter checked if for nothing else than your own peace of mind.No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0

Interesting message to give to a child. If she wasn't well enough to go to school she shouldn't have gone to a party!and then yesterday she was fine running round with her friend and then funny again as soon as her friend had gone when it came to her going to bed. She has been fine all day and now we are home she is sitting on the sofa not feeling great again..very hard for me to determine what is wrong. Sounds like she's allergic to you/your OH/your house.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Maybe try and keep an eye out on when your daughter is eating and see if it is related to her pains. I had similar symtoms a month or so ago, it first started when I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible stomach ache, feeling sick and very hot needing to poo alot (sorry 2mi), this carried on for about a week and I kept a little food diary. I thought that I might be developing IBS but touch wood have been fine lately saying that I have cut down on the amount of fruit that I had been eating. I should have went to doctors but I have a little phobia. Hope you feels better soon. Make sure she drinks plently of water.0
