I mean you take £6.50 an hour at 40 hours a week = £260 before tax, take your stoppages out of that then calculate what your getting a month, then deduct your food, rent, bills, car and see how much you have left, thats if you can stretch it round that far..then tell me thats living!!!
It's a disgrace, i can't wait for the job market to pick up because maybe then some of these liberty taking sons of !!!!!es that employ people for next to nothing will have to up their wages and cut their own greedy profits or they just won't get anybody to work for them.0

If he has worked over 2 years has he started the redundancy process to get some money of the government? The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Its not a fair living or a decent wage. I too long for the day when the job market picks up again and would love to see some of these mean employers try and struggle on that sort of money. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
 Fingers crossed x0

You on that sort of money then? many people just can't live on that money, with bills rent or mortgage, food, car...whatever...6 to 7 quid an hour makes it impossible, this country is a disgrace, the minimum wage should be close to 8 quid an hour, and businesses can't handle it then go out of business.
It sickens me the the amount of unscrupulous employers out there willing to take advantage of the high unemployment.
Then they need to learn to budget, and/ or live to their means.Gone ... or have I?0

 A car is a luxury.......
You are wrong in your belief that wages will go up, even in the better times there was still over 1 million people looking for jobs so there is still competition.
Stop moaning and do something about it, if you feel you are worth more than £6.50 then change yourself to get itThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Thanks, he's going to sort that out this week. Inspite of being skint, he's more worried about having nothing to do all day. Living out in the sticks doesn't make it easy for job hunting. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.

NMW is a good thing it has raised some peoples levels to a higher standard, but it has also lowered some jobs to the minimum level for which was traditionally a higher rate of pay. that being said i really struggled on minimum wage paying my mortgage and other bills.0

If you are on about employers of small to medium businesses then most of these will have created the company from scratch done long long hours, they will have done the hard work and now are gathering the rewards. It is a free market out there so anyone can start a business and do the hard workThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

Ark at you "a car is a luxury..."...lol
It's also a necessity for most, just like paying the bills, eating and a roof to sleep under at night, unless you suggest we all live in tents and live off the land....lol0

You really have no idea what you are talking about.
Do you think low wages are because of this so called recession? since the dawn of time people have got what they are worth, if people are willing to work for £6 an hour then the employer will pay that.
Even when the economy is booming if you dont want a job on £6 per hour theres another 100 people that will.0
