Social tariffs

I'd like anyone who knows about elec + gas suppliers to please name the companies that do them. I think this will be very helpful for all. I am currently on the look for any of this, and wanted to continue this from another thread. CHEERS!

I have the social tariff from Atlantic electric and gas for both gas and electric, 20% discount on normal tariff and i also get an annual boiler service and we are on the priority list if we lose our services.
I got mine through https://www.homeheat.co.uk who spoke to my supplier on my behalf.
To be eligible for the tariff your annual spend on energy needs to exceed 10% of your income, they ask for proof of earnings/benefits etc.

With Southern Electric for both my gas and electric i were on their social tarriff for 2 years. Had a letter come last week to renew the contract and gave same information as previously. Apparently this time i didnt qualify but would get £100 (as duel fuel other wise only £50) sent in a cheque beginning of next year to help with fuel costs. They have upped the initial 10% off income to 15%.

Asked for the amount due to me for the previous year (as i am on token meters recieve cheques rather than a reduction per unit cost) and have happily placed in the bank cheques totalling £750 for one years rebate.

Suggest you phone your energy supplier and ask for the special assistance dept. They are more up to date with any disabilty issues and if there is power cut etc and you need supplies for medical needs they put you on priority list. I have however found I was better on the normal rates than the special taffiffs.
Same goes with water company who will deliver supplies to you if they have to cutsupplies, use stand pipes etc.
