You're very welcome, Taxi - especially with something like acupuncture, its really important to have somebody well qualified.
There's also this link to my own professional organisation:
http://www.bacp.co.uk/information/therapy.php
There's a section about a third of the way down the page with this little bit in:
What should I ask when I contact a counsellor/psychotherapist for the first time?
Ask about the time, place, cost and duration of meetings plus any charges for cancelled appointments and holidays. You may also wish to enquire about the counsellor or psychotherapist’s professional membership, experience and training. During this time you will build up an idea of what is involved and you will be able to make up your mind if this is a person you can work with. It is important to be clear about what you want and what the practitioner is able to offer.
That lot is probably applicable to an acupuncturist, as well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
totally agree KC...it's so important to check qualifications...their premises also have to be inspected and licensed by the local council as they use needles and there wasn't any registered with our council..the one I found through your links is based in the next town up so will be registered on their list.Pain management clinic used to do it but due to funding don't any longer...hopefully the DR will come up with one...after all I am an MSER...but will pay if needed.
Have had a very lazy weekend as have been quite tired...probably due to the hectic 2 weeks I've just had..just done basics like washing/washing pots etc..no housework though.0 -
Had a busy morning as went to Lymphodema clinic but after taking my history they wanted my results from the scan before doing anything ...and sent me away with an appointment for 3 weeks....whilst she phoned the BCN...was only in the house for 5 mins when the nurse consultant phoned me to say that I have cellulitis, infection, odema and seroma...but no cancer...yippee!!!!
So need to go to DRs for antibiotics...so have arranged appointment for 3.40pm and am awaiting an appointment to see surgeon again in about 3 weeks....then lymphodema clinic phoned me to give me the same news so shes rescheduled the appointment that was booked for end of july to end of August so that she can hopefully get rid of the odema.
Still need to go to bank yet but will do that when I go to DRs0 -
Excellent news on being clear of cancer! Seriously brilliant, that - I'm *very* pleased for you!
Tothers ... even cellulitis .... dealable with. I didn't know what seroma was, so had a google - sound like it might be really uncomfortable, adding to infection problems. It does sound like you've got a lot of "side" effects, Taxi, I do feel for you with that, but there's obviously a lot of joined up thinking going on by the medical services, which will help a lot now they're really doing their stuff.
Lots of hugs.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Phew! You must be relieved. I should imagine the thought that the cancer has returned must have been at the back of your mind the whole time.
Keep on trying for the acupuncture. As well as the more usual meaning of holistic in focusing on 'alternate' therapies, I do think the more ways you attack the problem, the more chance you have of a good outcome. We are complex creatures and what works for one person doesn't always work for another. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0
