Switching service from Halifax

The moneysupermarket.com offer expires on 29 July but it has been suggested on this forum that the £50 might still be available from Halifax if the Reward account is applied for in branch. I take it, from your link, that is not actually the case.
No worries.
My understanding is the Moneysupermarket.com offer, and the branch offer are not connected. I'm sure you've seen it many times previous on threads mentioning branch mysteriously offering £50 to switch, but with no indication of such offer in marketing or on the website. My understanding of this is that it's allocated (and Opinions4U can clarify or another ex/ current branch staff member) from an individual branch's cost allowance (i.e. every branch is budgeted to offer cash incentives, provide goodwill etc.).
There's a poster on here, uhmm, Azreal something? Who is an HBOS employee, branch based (I think). They started a thread not so long ago clarifying both offers. I will have a dig and see if I can find you link.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -

You called?
Im RCC (Retail Contact Center (Bank Accounts)) not branch. But as far as i'm aware you are correct in that branches have those things budgeted in, RCC's there isnt really such a 'budget' but more a 'what is needed/required' approach.

Thanks for the clarification. So it's all a bit hit-and-miss then, really.

Thanks Azrael, sorry about the name, and the assumption you were branch.

Yeah. IMO it's better to have set promotions like the one on offer through Moneysupermarket.com. Someone who doesn't use branch banking or even uses a branch who have spent their "allowance" aren't subject to what seems like a post code lottery.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I can't find any reference to £50 cashback on the Halifax website but there have some posts on the site suggesting that Halifax themselves are paying £50.
Hi Consumerist
I went into the branch and they credited my account immediately with £50.00 for applying to use their switching process.
I told them I was aware the £50.00 was available and asked them to confirm I would be eligible prior to completing the application.0 -
I've opened my Reward Current Account 6 weeks ago and the switching service has gone through rather smoothly, however when I rang the customer service enquiring my £50 intro bonus they claim they have no idea of such incentives.....0

I have also switched to Halifax via Moneysupermarket to get the £50. I went into branch yesterday to check on a few things and to deposit £100 to activate my card. I asked about the £50 and she said because I was moving from Lloyds to Halifax I wouldn't get it because they are part of the same group.
It doesn't state this in the small print. It does say it doesn't apply to halifax or Royal bank of scotland account holders or Lloyds employees. Am I correct in saying I should still get it?
Has anyone else switched from Lloyds and still got their £50?0 -
The Lloyds group took over the HBOS group (including Bank of Scotland - not Royal Bank of Scotland) shortly after the financial crash. This sort of restriction on the payment of incentives is more or less universal in the banking system.
I think you have been unfortunate.
