Thanks - I will leave well alone then and fingers crossed that it goes smoothly. Thankfully most of my DD's have just gone out for the month meaning that we've got a mainly clear period before they are due out again and I don't have any credit card payments that go out of the account I'm switching from.

Bosie - I hope you get it all sorted out soon.

Oh thanks littleme, only for your post I'd not have checked!
Well T mobile rang me this morning and they normally charge £3 if a payment is non direct debit, but they said they will credit me back with £3.
I will have to find out what went wrong, as I just left it to the switching team:eek:

I rang Halifax's switching team and they told me they asked my old bank to cancel the direct debits. They admitted there is a problem with the switching, so I have to pay any items due by card.
Also, they would refund any charges incurred with proof:o

I have an ongoing nightmare with the Halifax switching service.

I wanted to switch only 3 of my DD's to Halifax.

They switched all the DD's except for the 3 I requested!

So far in the last 6 weeks, no DD's have been paid including my mortgage, car insurance, TV license, phone bills, gas and electricity bills!

The hassle this has caused really wasn't worth the £50.00.

Hope they do a better job for you.

Well up to now is hasn't gone well at all, plus I'm having to ring the companies up to explain and pay manually:mad: The cost of the phone calls, sorry I didn't do it myself, well I am really:eek:

I would have thought that they would compensate you for telephone expenses too. An itemised telephone bill might help you log these costs. Then there is the inconvenience you've been put to.

By contrast, my switch to Halifax has gone without a hitch. There has been at least one call on each monthly DD transferred to them. Still some quarterlies to come though. Most DDs are still active at A&L, presumably until I cancel them.

Refreshing, though, that Halifax have admitted their mistake. Credit to them for that, at least.

Hi Mols, could I ask whether you got the £50 from Halifax or through moneysupermarket.com ?

I can't find any reference to £50 cashback on the Halifax website but there have some posts on the site suggesting that Halifax themselves are paying £50.

I got £50 but it was done when I went into the branch to deposit the £100 to release the debit card.
My house insurance didn't get paid, so was worried about that, so rang them to explain.
I will add up what these calls have come to up to now.

I would assume Halifax are paying the £50, on the basis of a referral from Moneysupermarket.com. You will notice the below page giving details on the offer, is in fact a page on the Halifax website (you can only reach this page when proceeding through the link on Moneysupermarket.com).

Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

Thanks for that Jambosans, it resolves a discussion I've had on another thread.

The moneysupermarket.com offer expires on 29 July but it has been suggested on this forum that the £50 might still be available from Halifax if the Reward account is applied for in branch. I take it, from your link, that is not actually the case.
