Menstrual cups are used because they're cheaper, healthier, more convenient and less polluting than disposables.

A better question would be Why are Disposables used? They cost a fortune, carry the risk of TSS, clog up toilets and sewers and dry out the vagina's natural moisture.

The reason they are so widely used is most young women don't know about menstrual cups or are misinformed about their ease of use. I wish I'd found them 30 years ago. They're fantastic :T

How I agree with you thistledome!

I bought a menstrual cup (I have a mooncup) last year but only started using it about 4 months ago.I kept putting off using it-fear of the unknown maybe. It does take a bit of getting used to but I would never go back to tampons.

I'd also never go back to tampons. I was really surprised what a difference using a cup made to that time of the month - no worries about leakages, only needs to be changed twice a day and makes you feel "dry" rather than damp (sorry is that too much information?).

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
