There are other brands of menstral cup!
I had a mooncup but it was really too long for me, so I've switched to a MeLuna and love it. And you can choose different colours.
Thank you so much!!!:T:T:T
At the risk of sounding like a broken record on here, can people please say MENSTRUAL CUP when they mean menstrual cup, the Mooncup is just one brand and there are other (and better designed) cups out there!
I love my Meluna too, and also have a large Lunette which has fantastic capacity and has stopped me from being a hermit 2 days every month. My only regret is not buying one years ago.
What Meluna have you got? Mine's a large orange with a ball stem (sorry but I'm a cup geek).Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

I've only just got it, but it's so much more comfortable than my mooncup. And I got it here so it was cheaper, too, and it arrived with free sweets and a pen!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Can I just ask - how do you know what size to get? Is it based on how heavy your flow is or how many kids you've had  ? Interested in getting one to try but not sure what to go for
thanks CWROver futile odds

They tend to do a "before kids" and an "after kids" size. MeLuna and maybe a few others do a medium size too. You can see here and you can also compare the capacities if you are quite heavy.ciderwithrosie wrote: »Can I just ask - how do you know what size to get? For me though it was more about the length. I have a really low cervix and the MeLuna seems recommended for that. But the mooncup is 71mm long which is huge! I have a pic on my other computer comparing that I can post later if you want.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Is it just me, or does that sound really good?
Sweets to calm the PMT enraged woman, and a pen for her to poke the eyes out of anyone stupid enough to approach!

You shouldn't really use a higher absorbency than you need. There are warnings in the packets about not doing so.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0

Isn't that just because you're more likely to leave higher absorbency ones in for longer though, rather than because they are intrinsically more unsafe? I usually use regular and got some freebie super ones which I did try, but as ali-t said, they are more uncomfortable to remove when they haven't soaked up so much, so I've given up on them now.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
So what happens when you take one of these cups out? Does blood go all over the place? On that website it says you could leave it in for a day...that would be a fair amount of build up.
What do you clean it with?
I dont think i could ever use one...i just couldnt imagine tipping my blood down the toilet, then cleaning it as i do the dishes.

I think you're supposed to boil them to clean them thoroughly. Unless there was a separate saucepan for the thing, I am really shuddering here! I think I'd want a separate cooker for boiling it on too!0

You don't get blood everywhere. The outside is blood free, obviously, and if you don't tip it up nothing will spill. So what happens when you take one of these cups out? There are several methods of cleaning. You can use sterilising tablets, like milton i think? but i don't use them so i'm not sure. Or you can boil it for 5 minutes. You only need to do this between periods though.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
