My central Timpsons Key Cutters.
Yes, I know was rather high, hence why I walked away.
For the price it was:
A key remote and blade
Cutting the blade to my car
Programming the key to start my car and lock/unlock it
However, I just did the rather less appealing way, got a second hand remote unit matched to the one I have already and got it programmed, a lot of £££'s saved :money:0 -
you can get transponder keys with out the chip. Just remove the chip out of your old key
ford keys are a pain tho the chip is in the red/blue bit0 -
It is worth noting on here that not all remotes can be reused and a lot of people waste a lot of money with EBay keys. DO YOUR RESEARCH;)
Quite true, but sooner or later someone almost always comes up with a solution.
Renault Megane card keys were like that for years but now the recoding issue has been cracked I understand.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

ah but be fair, no one knows until they need a new key how expensive they are, i think people expect them to be about as much as a house key, thats when the shock sets in.
But apart from a chip, why are they so expensive.
The main reason is that manafacturers are always changing the systems so we all have to buy new equipment to keep up. and they are not easy to apply the code to the key for obvious reasons!! to give you some idea I have spend £40k of my kids inheritance this last year just to keep up to date with car keys.
1 key cutting machine cost me neary £8000 and the cutters will do almost 100 keys and they are over £100 each to replace so there is a pound on every extra key I will do a write up soon on how keys are made and coded (when I get time)
@cyclonebri1 Yes they can be reused we have to take them apart replace the chip and code them in. but concider that these are as strong as silly string and fall apart just by looking at them so a second hand one is not as good a deal as first thought.
But Fiat/Alfa keys cannot be reused and lots of others that cannot too.
It really is luck of the draw weather yours can be or not even 2 VW cars a few months apart may have differance systems so making there keys totally differant.0 -

I bought my car a few years back now, and it was such a good guy I wasn't worried about the one key and no master.
Just to give you an ideal, when I got to the guys house who was selling it on a Saturday morning after texting him the night before, I got there at 8am and he had 6, yes 6 calls just while I was looking over it, and by the time I had given him my deposit, some guy called him and said he had the cash and could come now!
Lucky after I paid the deposit, I went to get the insurance sorted, went back same day with the remaining cash and drove away but i was worried, that he would sale to someone offering more money
I have however, now been advised I need to take my car to a Ford Dealer to have them pull the code to make a new key, as I only have one key and two remote's.
Locknut, would you be able to program a new key with just one key??0 -

Oldest scam in the book, it goes like this;
Wait for punter to turn up, quick text to best mate, then best mate keeps ringing pretending to be another punter/s.
Think about it.
Nice selling tactic.;)
Did the house have a glass door as well?0 -
