Mattress advice please?

Hi Selina, we bought a mattress topper and all I can say is buy the very best you can afford and look at what it's made of, they are not all the same - we bought a cheap one, £70.00, and although it is comfortable to lie on - it's so hot and after a couple of hours I'm in the spare bed! I recently spoke to a man from Intellifoam and he said that you have to be careful of cheap imports from China that aren't proper memory foam, it's something to do with the density of the foam. Anyway, the end result is that we are now on the hunt for a new mattress, so we really wasted £70.00...
And... thanks to all the help I've had from here we are now down to a choice of two - everyone has been a great help, I just need to make my mind up now lol... Do I go for a full foam mattress or part foam/part pocket sprung! Decisions, decisions....
Many thanks to all who have offered really sound advice, it is much apprected.

If you don't want to be too hot, then I'd stay well away from full foam. You also have to beware of some pocket sprung with memory foam, because those that contain reflex foam encapsulated pocket springs can be just as hot. So make sure they contain full size steel pocket springs.
As for the imports from China, the man from Intellifoam is partly right. However it isn't so much that the memory foam from China isn't proper memory foam, it is more a case of it being very low quality, often being low density, and containing dangerous chemicals. I don't think Intellifoam actually know all that much about what makes a good memory foam mattress anyway, as they use 4" of memory foam, which is completely pointless. A 2" layer of memory foam is enough to do what it is designed to do. If it is deeper then all you will do is sink deeper into the foam, become engulfed, and become too hot. But it won't give you any better support.0 -
On 15th Feb 2012 I purchase a JML Starchef Deluxe through Amazon.co.uk and the seller is Dave Emporium LTD and I waited for my parcel containing JML Starchef Deluxe order number 202-2048418-4089162. The transit was TNT Parcels delivered it yesterday morning. I open the the parcel and lift out the Starchef and tried it and see if it works, but no. I tried plug leads their ok, but no. It has been arrived faulty or damaged during transit or by dropping. I explained to Dave Emporium about it. I spent £90.99 and I have receipt for it, and want it replaced but JML Starchef Deluxe are no longer available. I will give you his mobile phone number, it is 05603456276 and based in Norfolk. I live at 6 Main Road, Kirby Bellars, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire LE14 2DU. Now I cannot use the phone because I have speech difficulties, he will not understand me. Could you help me this please. Thank you.
