Samsung Genio Touch Problem
Hi, not sure if this is in the right place.
My daughter has a Samsung Genio touch screen. Yesterday I got her a new SIM for it (the old one I had cancelled). I put it in the phone and it comes up with SIM Password. Nothing works. There appears to be a SIM lock on the phone that wasn't there before.
I called VF customer services and they spent ages looking for and giving me numbers to put in and eventually we drew a blank. Nothing works. The SIM itself is not locked - I tried it in my phone and it works perfectly and my SIM in her phone comes up with SIM Password.
When the phone is started without a SIM in it I can access the menu and sure enough there is a setting under Security for SIM lock that says Yes. But it cannot be changed. I cannot change the SIM passcode manually in this menu because as far as we know there is no SIM passcode!!
HELP !! Any ideas??

Hi there
I take it you weren't on VF before and have now tried to put a VF sim in the phone.
When you buy a phone, most of them are "SIM locked", meaning that you can only use them with the network that gave you the phone and sim. The alternative is "SIM free", like the new iPhone 4.
You need to take the phone to a high street shop that offers "Phone Unlocking". It should cost about £10 for you to get them to unlock the phone, then the new sim (and any other sim) will work.In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move. The late, great, Douglas Adams.0 -
Hi, thanks for the reply. She was on VF before and is again. I think I am going to have to try one of the unlocking places to see if that works. The phone worked fine with the other VF sim0
