    Makita for me :)

Ive still got my 9.6 volt one from being an apprentice some 20 years back and still works fine, ive also got an 18v MXT and a new 18v LXT as well as the site radio and jigsaw.

I have used Dewalt in the past but imo do not have the same power as Makita, in fact the MXT one is far superior to the equivalent Dewalt one in the terms of torque which is why I bought it.
You may click thanks if you found my advice useful

Have you tried the new DCD925 Drill, This has to be one of the best combi-drills on the market and is superior to any Makita model.

Site radio by Makita is good, Makes the day pass quicker...Until it goes off, i have had 3 in less than 2 years!!

Nah, the Makitas come with 3 batteries and not 2 like the De-Walt, also the Makitas have 3Ah batteries whereas the De-walts have 2Ah batteries...... no brainer really:D

You may be unlucky with the Radio Ive had mine 2yrs of almost daily use and its still going strong, also like the 2 Aux ports for your I-pod..

    Quality over quantity

For reference, Compare the amount of faulty Makita batteries to faulty Dewalt nano batteries on Ebay!! Says it all!!

Backward compatibilty with the Dewalt Nano batteries too unlike the LXT Makita version!!

I have 2 Makita Ni-mh cordlesses that are at least 7yrs old and they are still going strong..Wouldnt soil myself with buying tools from E-bay.Hardly convincing evidence that, "check e-bay for faulty batteries",lol

Like I said Ive been in the trade for 25yrs and have tried all the makes I mentioned previously and IMO De-walt tools fall by the wayside on build quality .Just tell it as I find it Andy, will have to agree to disagree

Dewalt also do 3ah batteries DE9096...

Personal choice but i have never been happy with Makita tools. A core drill and bits that dont like stone, A petrol Still saw that doesnt like cold starts, A portable tile cutter that wouldnt cut 6mm ceramics even with a 2.6mh battery and new 80mm makita diamond wheel

As a self employed tradesman if a tool lets me down i am not earning, If a tool takes longer to do the job its costing me time and the customer £££....Ill stick with what i know works:beer:

Can you post a link for the 3 AH Li -ion De-walt batteries Andy? as I didn't know they did them, I knew you can buy cheap imitations but didn't realise they were De-walt batteries..

I agree with your sentiment though,Time is money and if a tool lets you down its money lost.

If you want start an argument at work, ask which is the best car to buy. There will be many people with a horror story about any make you care to mention, and as many that swear by a particular make. Much the same applies to the purchase of tools.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
