ASDA Parking

Well I know this is a money saving website and i'm all for that, but either try to find somewhere you can park the car for free ie a road nearby, or pay to park at the train station because funnily enough that is why its there
just dumping your car on a supermarket car park for that length of time is taking the michael, they have a business to run and part of the reason why they got scammers doing the rounds is because of inconsiderate people who do this.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I was working on a store refit recently at Sainsbury's in York.
T & C "run" the car park there, supposedly it was a condition of my employment that contractors were not allowed to park there but I never signed a contract nor saw any signs to the contrary to say I couldnt park there, anyhow while I was working there I parked all day, its a free car park so what the hell ?
I was told when I eventually left with 7 tickets that apparently these spaces are worth £7000 per day in takings to the store ?You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Train Station parking can be more serious if you do not pay the 'ticket' on time in SOME train stations, that is why it is always best to look out for any signs stating the Railway Law.
There are different rules on parking at a railway station but a lot of stations still do not have a bylaw in place, allowing you to get a 'ticket' and not pay, and nothing more happening, as in the Private Parking cases.
Regards the companies taking it further if a lot of people starting parking in these places and not paying, it'll never happen, they do not have the law on their side.
They would also be required to get a law in place on there car parking site to enforce such, which would not only cost them high to do with every car park but also they wouldn't get it, even if they did enforcing such would still prove to be out of the companies favour.
I am not saying, go park in Asda every day for the next year, get 365 'tickets' and don't pay, as that would be being a little silly to go that far, but the odd 'ticket' once a week, even twice is nothing to worry about.
For example, in Tesco near us Euro Car parks have a sign up stating all the serious things that MAY happen if you park their and overstay, one of those is wheel clamping.
IF you are wheel clamped and the company refuse to remove the clamp WITHOUT payment, you can contact the Police, it isn't allowed unless they hold a permit and I doubt every much EVERY private car park has a person whom holds a wheel clamping permit.
These types of 'tickets' are unenforceable by any means and simply, nothing to worry about.
Keep a look out however while parking at Train Stations for bylaw signs, I have had 3 'tickets' in a non bylaw station, not paid and it went no further.0 -

Thanks for that comment but I don't exactly want to park at train station and pay £10 and then walk all the way from ASDA at 11:30 at night when there could be whoever around at that time. Thankfully we were able to park at ASDA's for that amount of time anyway. I thought this forum was a place for anything and not just money saving ideas. The train station is there so you can park and get a train somewhere, doesn't help when you're not getting the train in the first place. Going from my train station to ASDA, you only have a junction and surprising no side roads to park along. :mad:0 -
I was thinking "just park there and not pay" ???
OK a ticket is just rubbish but a wheelclamp is another matter, They wont remove it unless you
pay, Not much you can do about that. You can try to claim it back later but they seem to avoid
paying it back even after being taken to court and losing.
Under what grounds can the police force them to remove a clamp?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Hammyman- the ppc would need to prove the "driver" agreed to the terms of the "contract" which is difficult to do.. also they can only sue the driver of the vehicle at the time for actual loses should it go to court which at £1 for 2 hours would be £3.00 if the OP parked there for 6 hours..
if they clamp you chop it off.. (which is unlikely they will do as they cant clamp over an alledged debt)Sealed pot challenger # 10

So from what you are saying the supermarket needs to provide a car park and pay rates on the land but just let people park there for free all day because the law says they cant enforce to parking fee.
If I was in charge of the store I think there would be a £50 banger parked up somewhere which could "inadvertently" put dents in said parked car whilst opening its doors ect. Dont worry about insurance as its private land so the banger does not need any.
There is money saving and then there is twisting situations to exploit.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

The supermarket does not need to provide a car park but does so to attract customers. If they choose not to put a system in place where they can actually control the parking, e.g barriers, then that is their problem. Trying to steal money from people is not the way to do it.
Neither is recommending store owners to commit crimes by deliberately damaging cars.;)0 -
clipping someone's car with your door whilst exiting a car is not a crime. Nor is not having insurance in a private car park.
As you say, the supermarket goes to the trouble / expense of providing the car park for customers, not for free loaders who don't want to pay for their parking. I would consider that theft of an asset.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

You would be wrong then0
