it's a lovely idea for a wedding I think, Other place I know quite well is Slaidburn in the Forest of Bowland - really special and there is a lovely Village Hall, they can do weddings there and quote a rate for all weekend.

There is an old thread on here - 'Barn Reception in Lake District?' dont want to take the credit but there are a lot of links on it.

We found a gorgeous village hall after looking at some really skuzzy ones. Anything nice and cheap you wont find online with pictures. The nice thing is that with google street view you will at least be able to have a look on the outside. Best thing to do is ring every where you can possibly find on Google - ask them questions that are important - date, alcohol license etc etc. For the cost, a Village Hall has it's quaint charm for a fraction of the price over a barn.I love surprises!0

Thanks, I fell in love with it even though it was a little over our budget so I'm cutting costs in other areas! We're getting married on the 19th August 2011! I am planning on making button trees as centrepeices ( sounds odd but i am going to make them to be a coss between a bonzai tree and button boquet). We're also going to buy some garden games and sell them afterwoods, my OH's mum is going to make some bunnting out of cath kidston style fabric. I'd like some hay bales outside as seats and lots of other homemade things!
When are you thinking of getting married?0 -
kaysmith, Asda have big giant skittles and ballsets reduced from £10 to £5.50 just now, might be worth getting and putting away? The skilltes were white, and about 2 feet or so high. XIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window
