Barn Reception in Lake District?

Hello! I'm a newbie but a long time lurker!
Basically, we got engaged in July and are now trying to sort a venue. I am originally from Merseyside but moved to West Yorkshire to live with my H2B 10 years ago. My parents would like us to get married close to where I grew up and not in yorkshire where H2B and his family live but I'm not so keen. We all love the lakes though so thought a wedding there would be a compromise.
Anyways, was wondering if anyone knew of a barn type venue for a reception in the lakes. Ideally somewhere that we can do up ourselves (to save a bit of money) but open to any ideas!

Sorry just read this back and it is a bit confusing. My parents live in Merseyside and want us to get married there. I live in W.Yorks and just want to get married!!!

I know of some village halls in North Yorkshire. I'll have a hunt and come back.

I love yorkshire v much but think my parents were unhappy when we first mentioned getting married near where we live, I'm not sure why, think they felt a bit left out as H2B's family live close to us. Just starting to realise what a minefield planning a wedding can be!x

just PM'd you back......parents eh! :mad: mine live down south - hubby's live in cumbira...........we chose West Morland becuase I wanted to get married in the lakes rather then the middle of a city. I think my mum did feel she'd be left out but at the end of the day I organised everything his family didn't get a say!

Can recommend my florest in Penrith (tho you could prob find a better one - the flowers were dead by lunch time). The cake maker - also in penrith was fab tho and even made me a Marble cake....WOOOOP!!!!

How about getting married at Gretna Green and then having your honeymoon in the Lakes,sorry don't know of any barns where you could have the reception but it is a fantastic place for a honeymoon as long as it isn't raining...
