First Time On The Road But Nervous
I have now Taxed my car. The dealer bought it to my home and parked it in the residents carpark but in the wrong spot so I had to park it in my parking bay but I was trembling and nervous. Do you think I need a refresher driving lesson or would I be ok when I actually do drive the car? I passed my driving test on 3rd June and haven't driven since.

Also see www.2passforum.co.uk Do you know any experienced drivers who could sit with you that you'd feel comfortable with? Once you get out there and have a good bit of practice it'll be like riding a bike and you'll wonder why you were ever so worried0

Thanks, also do you know where they do Car user manuals? I have no idea what some of the buttons are on my dashboard. I know it sounds a stupid question but I didn't ask the dealer to go through them with me lol. I know tha basics though.0

Try Ebay or if it's a newish car the parts department of a dealer will no doubt be able to sell you one.0

I'd go with anewman with getting an experienced driver just to sit with you even to go round the buttons and dials. Perhaps even a wee look under the bonnet to show you where to check things and a little run around town.
What car is it?0 -
It's a Vauxhal Cavalier. Maybe I'll ask my driving instructor if he could help out.0

Could you go to a public library and see if they have a Haynes manual for your car. They usually have photos in of the various controls and gauges etc. If you're a meany skintflint like me, it's free.0

A cavalier? Not a Vectra? What age is it? You should pick a haynes manual up on ebay quite cheap if it's a cavalier which would give you a good insight into car checks etc even if you never do them yourself. . (I think I've actually got one up the loft LOL, I never get rid of Haynes manuals).0

It's an automatic Vauxhall Cavalier from 93. I know it's old but I didn't want anything too good being my first car as i'm bound to get some scratches or knocks on it. I have found one on Ebay. It's for the cavalier so i'm guessing suitable for an auto as well?0 -
I prefer my older cars TBH as I like working on them myself and modern ones are becoming too advanced for your average home diyer. Currently on a 1998 Corsa and will go older with my next one.
As long as the year range covers 1993 and it covers your engine, you'll be fine.
Good luck0 -
