    Thank-you,

I have thought about Virgin Vie also. I used to work for Boots so i could always go back there as a saturday person !

A saturday job would probably be better you have fixed hours and are not tramping the streets. :D

Avon are useless, or maybe I've just had a really bad experience.

My Sales Leader went AWOL, one delivery got "lost" and another was sent to the wrong address.
Plus they phone alot, to try and flog you packs.

Unless you have lots of family/friends who will buy, I really wouldn't bother. People aren't interested generally because they can order it themselves online

  • I found Avon more trouble than it was worth too. I like to kid myself that I just about broke even after weeks of going out on dark nights in the rain, repeatedly trying the same doors just to get the brochures back from disinterested people or trying to get others to cough up for orders they'd had second thoughts about, but I don't even think I did *that* well :) It's certainly not something I'd recommend to anyone.
Eek! Someone's stolen my signature!
  • I was an Avon rep years ago and found it very hard work knocking on people doors and earnt very little.
I must admit I do have an Avon lady but you can now order on line and there are more deals to be had there.

And I would also say that I have heard so many bad reports about Party Lite I would avoid this like the plague

If you become an Avon Lady include a few residential/nursing homes on your list.
My friends gets hundreds of pounds each book visiting these homes. The staff peruse through them at their coffee break and end up ordering and often the little old ladies will buy a few toiletries to keep themselves going.

    Good luck xx

    I've been Money Tipped!
Avon is pretty good, it is one of the cheapest ones to do. Brochures are pennies each, and your do not have to pay for your order in advance. The thing with Avon is, they even let you be a rep for family/friends. So if you find there is no interest in your area, you could just keep doing it for yourself/family. I think the order minimum is £30, so if you can keep it over that your laughing. you get all the stuff at cost price. My wife does it, and has quite a good round, but even I (A MAN!) find a lot of the stuff good.

If you want NO outlaw I think betterware is the only one that is free. But that is a set area, so if there is someone in your area, you can't do it too.

Others with more outlay are Kleeneze and Phoenix-cards. Phoenix cards are great, and at £1 per card quite affordable, and for the quality, can't be beaten. This has a yearly £15 subscription cost and the brochures are quite expensive (25p each), but if you have the time to put to it, especially now til Xmas, it works out quite well. My wife does the cards as well, so if you need any info, I can pass it on, just through me a PM (I think she even has info packs on starting up!).

I tried Avon in the past, but ended up running at a loss :(

I was given an "exclusive" territory which was supposed to be mine only and I was told not to deliver to any other streets without the supervisors permission. I put all the books out, but on collecting them, a number of people said they already had an Avon lady. I did ask the supervisor about this, but she said that lady wasn't allowed to sell door to door as she was only supposed to be selling to friends and family.

I did try and build the round up, but she had so many "friends" in my streets, and the other houses were not interested. It ended up that I never managed to hit the minimum level to get commission, but I still had to pay out for bags, brochures etc.

I decided it wasn't worth it and packed it in, but the lady who was selling to all my customers was obviously doing ok from it!
Here I go again on my own....

I agree with this although roads are given out there is nothing to stop people giving out books to anyone. Plus now that Avon is online with good offers I sure this will affect the local reps.
My Avon lady is so miserable when she comes that I now order online.
I will always try to help people doing their job to earn some money but she is so rude she has driven me to it.
