Any Funny Disability Related Stories?

I think the only really funny things that happen with my disabilities involve the short-term memory loss and verbal dysphasia - my sister will never let me forget the time I called a motorbike a washing machine without realising the term had come out wrong until she started laughing! It happens a lot.
(Though I have often wished it would happen in front of the ATOS people so they believe it's a problem for me - sometimes it never seems to - maybe because I rest up so much before those exams!)
Anyway, yeah, that... and putting a jar of coffee in the freezer and pouring milk into my Pot Noodle instead of into my cup of tea... Those kinds of things happen to me a lot.Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0 -

We were looking at the books in Asda earlier this evening. My son picked up a book about Toy Story - it was the type that you press a button and it makes a noise. He pressed one of the buttons and it rang like a phone. A chap a few feet away answered his mobile - 'Hello. Hello?', looked at the phone, and then repeated 'Hello? Hello?' before putting it back into his pocket looking very confused....0 -

I do that alot. I think its just because I am a daft bat.
I was declined DLA, appealed and they decided to send an ATOS Dr out to see me at home. I have nerve problems so sometimes my hands spasm and i can't hold anything, grip things etc. So the Dr is here and i'm nervous as hell, seen too many scare stories about these medicals. My daughter is here too but my OH has her and her sister in another room playing while I speak to the Dr. Youngest daughter decides she need to be with mum so comes toddling thru with a bottle of water wanting me to take the lid off, Unintentionally i fail and fail again so she cries which makes me cry and have a rant about how I should just be put to sleep as i am obviously a crap parent and can't even open juice for my baby. The Dr actually opened it for her but I was so embarassed about my outburst. :eek:MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

            Oh dear Pixie!
Remembering things is an issue for me too. In January, I met up with a friend of mine and met his son for the first time. We were at his for a few hours and then we had to go out. He walked me so far and we then went our separate ways.
We were talking about his son and I couldn't remember his name, (having known it for the last 4 years) so just said "him".Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Yeah, my short-term memory, concentration and sense of time are significantly impaired by fibromyalgia and bipolar disorder. Drives me nuts...Homosexual, Unitarian, young, British, female, disabled. Do you need more?0

Perhaps some of you may not find this funny but I let my dark side out today. I was in town earlier and as usual I bumped into a few people and apologized, nothing unusual there. One of them though was followed by the sound of something expensive sliding along the ground - confirmed by a cry of "ME IPHONE!!!" and someone telling me to watch where I'm going. I responded with the stock "I'm blind what's your excuse?" but nothing more was said so I carried on my way.
I had an evil little chuckle that someone's iPhone is probably scratched, I'm guessing she was texting instead of watching where she was going.

Earlier in this thread, I mentioned about not recognising people. I remember being in primary school and seeing someone who I thought was my mum - that was rather embarrassing too!Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I think it was a "you had to be there" moment, but I was having problems with my wrist and couldn't grip anything and managed to drop some paperwork about 5 times.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
