It doesn't make it legal because it works! You're only allowed to install one license on one computer at the same time. It only worked because MS seems to delete the activated keys from their database after 90 or 120 days, I think.
Aye, I know all that guff - but does it really matter?
It's certainly longer than 120 days, I got mine a couple of years ago and it still works (about a month ago).0 -

You misunderstood me, they only delete the record that it has been activated from their database, not the key itself. At least it was the case with WindowsXP and Office =< 2003. When you had to re-install XP it let you activate it over the Internet, if you did it within 90 days or so, you had to activate it by telephone as it recognized the key as already activated.0 -
