one-non-blonde wrote:It's always puzzled me... the conditioner you get with colourants is so much better than anything I've ever found in a bottle. Does anybody know if you can buy it from somewhere???
Your not the only one whos noticed this, ive been trying to find these for years with no success so far
I'm now thinking of writing to the hair colourant companies to find out if they are available and if not would it be something they would consider producing, just hope if they do they dont cost a bomb :eek:Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

On a whim, I bought John Friedas Frizz Ease Shampoo and Conditioner (the blue one for extra frizzy hair) yesterday, and I have to say my hair feels great. And it took half the time to straighten.
They do say though, that you should rotate your shampoos and conditioners and they stop working after a while?!?!?!
But if it continues to work this well I may be buying some more.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!

Can anyone else recommend any products to improve the condition/look of dry-ish frizzy hair? Might try the Aussie conditioner as well.
I am feeling rather proud of myself - I have just cut my own hair...and it looks fine!! Must have saved at least 20 quid!!0 -
mjk,
try less than a teaspoon of olive oil warmed in your hands and smoothed over your head. Dont put it near your scalp though. Leave it on for about 10 minutes and shampoo twice. Do this as often as you feel is necessary. (I normally do it when i feel the brush is snagging on my hair when i brush it). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I decided to grow my fringe out and its just about down to chin length, so what did i do a week ago? I decided i wanted a bit of a fringe again, so instead of paying £6 at the hairdressers, i decided to hack at it myself. Its not a bad job considering its a DIY version, but i have now changed my mind about a fringe and now i side part it, it just looks like two short curtains at the side of me face.
Thank god it grows!!

If you want a cheap hair cut find out if your local college trains hairdressers. We have 2 hairdressing colleges here. There are different levels of students. Level 1 are newbies and don't tend to cut just colour. Level 2 cut and colour and level 3 are full trained hairdressers just improving tech skills. A full head colour plus cut and blowdry is just £10. Kids cut and blow dry is £3.50 no matter what length the hair. Highlights are from £15 again, colour correction from £20. All the prices include cut & blowdry. There is also a beauty college attached with manicures from £4. With prices so low I go every month

Judi, lol about cutting your fringe.I have done that a few times, but I found it is true what they say, there is only three weeks between a good and a bad hair cut.So if I do it now, I make sure I'm not going anywhere important for 3 weeks.0

I have been going to quite a trendy hair salon for the past 15 years, and as my hair has got longer - the price has got more expensive. So although I still get it cut there, I would always ask a friend to colour it for me - using Loreal Color Experte. One day when I was having my hair washed at the salon for my trim, a few days after I had coloured it at home, the junior washing my hair, commented that I hadn't washed it out properly - oh the shame of it. So I explained that I couldn't afford their prices (£100+ for highlights on my length hair), so he said why didn't I come to training night, where the juniors will colour your hair for just £8.50 . I couldn't believe my ears - that was less than my DIY kit. So I have been going for about 2 years now every 8 weeks - yes, it does take a long time (3 hrs+) but hey that is luxury for me, 3 hrs away from kids reading magazines and drinking coffee. They are properly supervised by the trainers, and I think in some cases, they do a better job, because they are being so scrutinised.
Its worth ringing your local salons to find out about training nights. They are always looking out for 'models'.Only 5% of those who can give blood, actually do!
