I bought the Treseme shampoo & conditioner for coloured hair. The big 900ml bottle in Tesco is about £3.80 (its more expensive in Boots for the smaller bottle). The conditioner is fabulous it feels like the conditioners you get with hair colourants. I have to wash my hair every morning as its greasy and if I have time I put the straigteners on and since using this conditioner my hair has been far less frizzy and easier to straighten.

It's always puzzled me... the conditioner you get with colourants is so much better than anything I've ever found in a bottle. Does anybody know if you can buy it from somewhere???
My hair's really long but just kind of hangs there... am considering having it permed for some body but the memory of the 80s demi-waves is still haunting me!If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor...0 -

If your hair is greasy I would suggest that getting rid of fat from your diet would help. Also, you can avoid using conditioner by just using less shampoo to wash your hair. That will still leave some of the grease behind so that your hair does not go frizzy!0 -
letting it dry naturally and the spraying on a shine tonic should help it look sleek and lie flatter

The horse shampoo you are talking about presumably is called 'Mane and Tail'? I have heard equally good and bad results from using this product. You can buy it from here. Its an American website that is supposed to deliver to the UK. I havent used it myself as i hear it can be rather drying and as i am trying to grow my hair, i dont really want dry splitting ends.
The best thing i have found for shine is henna. I henna my dark brown hair every month. I find it gives my hair more body and shine than any other product (and it also tones down my odd few greying hairs). However, it is messy to use, the stink isnt too brilliant either and you are supposed not to be able to colour over it with a normal hair dye (i have never tried it though) but i wouldnt go back to normal hair colour now.
I have tried the Treseme range of shampoo and conditioner. I used the deep cleansing shampoo and the conditioner for fine hair, but unfortunately they made my head itch. I have since heard its full of silicones so be careful if you use it on a regular basis. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I think that's it, though I'm growing my hair too so I won't bother with it if it dries your hair out, I don't want to make mine worse
Does anyone know, what's the light-haired equivalent to henna? My hair is red-blonde so henna would be no good for me.Bulletproof0 -
I swear by Aussie 3 Minute Miracle conditioner. I have slightly wavy and very kinky (oo-er!) hair and on trying it for the first time 2yrs ago have never looked back. It really moisturises but isn't greasy (have you ever noticed when you wash your hair in the shower your shoulders can feel oily from the conditioner run-off?) Worth a try, you can buy sachets for 99p in Boots which should give you a few day's trial but buy the big bottles from somewhere like Bodycare as they're £2 cheaper than Boots.

Over the last 25 years I have tried every cure for greasy hair. I have washed my hair in raw eggs (ugh) added lemon juice, vinegar etc. I have tried rinsing in freezing cold water, I have tried diet elimination. None of these worked. The only thing that did work was a perm. I used to have body perms for years to stop my greasy hair. It was fab I only had to wash my hair every 4 or 5 days. As I am getting older though the greasy hair is getting worse. Sometimes after washing my hair in the morning its greasy by the evening. I used to avoid conditioner like the plague but though I have lots of hair its very fine and this means I have static and my curls look a mess. The treseme conditioner is the best I have found. It really softens the hair without build up.
ps someone did once tell me that if you can leave your hair unwashed for 2 weeks you will never need to wash it again as it cleans itself. Anyone ever tried this?~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Poppy, after i had my surgery (which was on my neck), i didnt wash my hair for 10 days. My hair is fine, and gets very lank. I am sorry to say, my hair looked awful. I think the people who get the most success with this are people with thick course hair. However, that is only what i have heard.
I have also tried the 3 minute miracle too but although it was ok, it didnt give me the results i wanted. The best thing i found for my hair was to wash it daily with Head and Shoulders. If you use too much it strips your hair, if you use too little you end up with a build up. Also, dont rub the hair too much when washing and drying as it damages the cuticles. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
