Kate, do you mind if I ask you how much the trip to Berlin is? I am just curious to see how it compares with the one at my DD school.

if i was working there would be this massive presumptio that my child isnt needy any more and that i can afford all sorts f things fr hm- unfortunately this isnt the case- wish it was

But if you work full-time, you won't be bringin home £65.45 a week - you'll be bringing home at least 3 times that.

    Dear friends
I have just read through this topic with growing horror. No one asks for a disabled child, whom we love dearly. my daughter has autism and a developement delay , I recieve £53.90 carers allowance, my daughter receives (its her name and national insurance number on it) £66 dla , i receive the normal child benefit and wtc/ctc assessed to my income from work which is below £90 per week .

Dla when paid for a child is paid in the childs name to help with the additional costs of caring and transporting a child.Call it income call it what you will, but NO one would prefer getting this to a normal wage, you have to remember why it is paid.
For the record I would be better off not working, getting income support and ctc, carers and child ben AND then I would get free school meals. But i have chose to work.
The lady who started the thread was referring to the fact carers allowance as opposed to full time work is £53.90
Please give her a break, thank you:A

  • Tracytaxi, you should receive an additional amount in your child tax credits for your disabled child. It is the disabled child element. If your daughter received high rate care (I'm assuming she doesn't, from the amount of DLA quoted), there is also a severely disabled child element.

If you are not receiving these, inform CTC of the rate of DLA you receive for your daughter - your payments should increase.
