Outside interference no one will fix

I have my phone &with bt, and broadband with a isp supplied via their llu, the service that my isp provides is second to none, but this interference is not a fault with my line or equipment connected to it, my isp say they won't call out bt,

I have found the source of this interference which is near to my home, and am fairly sure as to what is the actual cause,

But with my isp saying they cannot get bt involved as there is no fault, and good old bt won't speak to me regarding issues that are affecting my broadband even though these issues are because of someone elses activites and bt's infastructure that was not designed to run adsl signals on it,

There would be little point in me switching isp as the problem would still exist plus at the moment i dont wish to switch isp my question is is there another way to get this sorted ?

After two long running threads in the TBB technical session on this with no suggestions I think you already know the answer to that one unfortunately.

If you have audible noise on your line and you pay your line rental to BT then there is nothing to stop you from getting them to fix it. What you must not do is mention broadband to them or you will be thrown back to your ISP.
Of course BTs infractructure from the exchange to your property was not designed for ADSL.
ADSL was developed to run on the existing infrastucture of copper pairs that may have been laid before the war.
It always suprises me that it works at all, I'm coming from the time when we thought that a 1200/75 baud modem was pretty cool.

Well if i had noise that was fequently present as a result of this interference then yep i would raise a pstn (voice fault) with bt, the only noise that i can hear that i'm unsure should be there or not is a faint hum (background noise) that as far as i can remember always been their, but as it is only audible during the quite line test,it would probably be deemed acceptable by bt, apart from that occasionally i can hear a few pops ect,but this is very random,

What do you suspect is interfering with your line?
Is it something that OFCOM might investigate?

Well as a result of a simple test and co-operation of the person who owns the building the interference is coming from i found it to be the fluorescent lighting most probably down to the ballasts, when the lights are on the problem occurs, switch them off and it stops , i have extensivly monitored my connection, and can see this realtime, as packet loss and errors, reulting in poor downstream throughput, and downstream snr that drops during the times of interference , but never disconnects even when less than 1db

unfortunately ofcom don't seem interested, but i think that it would have to wipe out a radio frequency first for them to be interested, bt are really the ones who should have an interest in this as it affects their network that i pay every month to access (line rental)

Just to double check this is affecting a wired ethernet connection, not just wireless.

Sounds like RFI,Have you tried something thing like this
    http://www.shop.bt.com/products/bt-plug-in-rfi-filter-4KQS.html
There is a way of detecting RFI , you tune a radio to a particular frequency and listen, you could do a search for this.
Dodgy starters in flourescent tubes can cause this type of interference
FYI as RFI affects ADSL not PSTN then your ISP should investigate this and use BT if necessay, but BT(retail) as your PSTN provider would (quite rightly) say its nothing to do with them as its only affecting your broadband.

Well i don't think it to be rfi, more of a emi type, as it's possibly due to a internal telephone extention cable running paralel with a mains lead, or similar setup, as of late there has been lit signs left on overnite, and as a result i get a little bit of packet loss, and a slight increase of errors at times, and my downstream snr that is affected by this interference used to fully recover after it stopped each day, but now is half or less than what it is supposed to be, so something has changed, or my router is reporting the incorrect value for some reason, this issue has been escalated with my isp, but as they do not see any fault with the line they won't call out bt, all they would do is try and mask the problem, by raising snr levels wich in turn would lower my sync speed, and also enable interleave in order to utilze impluse noise proctection, end result being high latency and a speed lower than what my line is capable of supporting, as i play online games interleave is not an option i am willing to consider long term, it has been tried once before, and the problem was still there,in fact even with my sync capped at 8mb i still get some errors and packet loss, as this interference affects only the adsl2+ frequencies, they way i see it there should be another way to get this sorted out, after all it's down to bt openreach SFI charges that scares isp's into not calling on their services

You are plugged into your master telephone socket and have no extensions connected?
If you do have extensions have you disconnected the bell wire (pin 3)?
