Sometimes it's difficult to get accurate quotes for sole occupancy frpm tour operator sites. You find somehting & when you do a search it's way more expensive. Olympic Holidays site has quite good late offers and returns accurate sole occupancy prices when you do a search for 1 person. Portland is another one though the initial price returned (even when you search for a "party" of 1) comes up for double occupancy and you need to click further to get the sole supplement Thomson returns accurate single prices but I find their prices generally a bit expensive.
Haven't tried to suggest destinations as it's wide open. You need to give a bit more about preferences e.g. do you prefer "familiar" or don'tmind something a bit different, etc?0 -
Mercury Direct usually offer a range of no single supplement holidays at varying times/locations.

There's also a good thread here you might find useful.

OP, why not do a DIY break, book the components separately? I always travel alone and haven't booked a package deal for at least five years.Gone ... or have I?0

I've used KE Adventures, and the adventure company in the past - there is also a company called just you, but thats less active than the first 2....depends what you want really. No longer an accidental landlord, still a wannabe millionaire:beer:

Try this:

Saga come in for a lot of leg pulling - but they are a superb holiday company.
Most of their prices include insurance. Some include parking or rail fare to airport. Many of the holidays they offer are available to single travellers at NO single surcharge.
I went to Egypt with them in Jan this year -couldn't fault them !0 -

Yes, package deals are almost always designed or couples and families, not single travellers. I haven't booked a package holiday for more than 5 years either - it is much more fun, flexible and cheaper and to book everything yourself, you can have whatever itinerary you want and not be tied down to a tour guide. I like doing multi-centre breaks so you don't get stuck in a place you don't like for over a week.
I have never been on one of these "solo holidays" as I much prefer to do my own thing rather than being stuck together with other singletons.
I have travelled all over the world by myself and love the freedom to do what I want, when I want, where I want. Travelling alone you actually end up meeting more people than you do if you travel as a couple or family unit where you tend to spend most of the time with your travelling companions.
As for recommendations, I would avoid the traditional package holiday destinations as they tend to be more family orientated - you can go anywhere you want! 7-10 days probably means that you are limited to Europe. How about island hopping in Greece at your own pace?0 -

I have just done eight nights on the US East Coast, and if I had flown in economy the whole thing would have been under £800!
(Not much help to the OP, as flight prices will be high for August.)

Yeah, I wouldn't do the east cost of the US in August - too expensive, too busy and the exchange rate isn't great at the moment. It can also get very humid at this time of year.
Actually, I hadn't noticed that the OP mentioned "next month". It's slap bang in the middle of the peak season so nowhere is going to be cheap. One of the big advantages of being a single traveller is being able to travel outside of the school holidays.0
