hi all
I have recently become a (mature) part time student at a local college learning bsaic computer skills (CLAiT) with a view to retraing so I could return to work in a basic office enviroment (hopefully)
I have been given an email address by the college which ends in the college name and ac.uk.
However i just dont know how to get into this email address. My skills at present are very basic.
The tutor (who is now on hols) said we need to have this address to purchace Microsoft 2010 at a reduced student rate to help us on our course to do homework at home. But on the site it says to enter your student email address then they send you a message for you to get to enable for them to verify you are a student.
But I dont know how to get to it (I feel very stupid) i have a gmail and hotmail address but you just go to the gmail and hotmail pages and input the info. With this i go to the college "portal" page and enter address and password and it dosnt work i think the password is invalid as I have tried several times but dont know where to go to get the new one they are sending me...
I hope this makes some sort of sense! Thanks if anyone can decipher it and help me!

When you enter the (in)correct password does it not prompt you with a "forgotten your password" link?
There may be contact details for help on the college website of a bit of googling will find it0 -
There will be a similar site to GMail and Hotmail that your college uses on their website, you login to that, and it will show you your emails (just as GMail and Hotmail would)
If you tell us the college website I'll try and find it.
The college portal page may have a different username. For example:
myportal login is xxxxxx whereas my email address is xxxxx@uni.ac.uk0 -

Do you have something called a student portal? This is where any lecture slides are posted. There might be a link there to your email account.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I did the basic ClAIT course at Oaklands over ten years ago . A great course for a learning curve. I was lucky , had somewhere to park.
If you stilll have problems. you can ( all ) get the time expired version from Microsoft.
Then get the registered version in Sept. The main difference , better print preview.
Ps Got your head round the Access yet?0 -
Dont go to bed just yet give us 5 mins.0

Did you try what Lokolo suggested re the username? That is the most likely solution. If not there is an e-mail address and phone number for the college's network team on the staff/learner's link. I would link directly but can't as writing this on my phone.
