Moving Country Talk Talk trying to charge me Cancellation Fee (18 month)

Hi I am 7 months through my TalkTalk contract but they are trying to charge me a disconnection fee even though I am leaving the country. I can understand if i was moving to one of their unbundled exchanges but I'm not!

Can anyone help with this - how do I get it waived?

How is moving countries any different to moving counties as far as a contract is concerned?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Simple answer. You don't get it waived... Why should you? You are acting as though Talk Talk are out of order asking you to maintain a contract you agreed, or that it is crazy Talk Talk ask you to pay the early termination charged you agreed. My advice would have been to find a broadband supplier who had a shorter contract or no minimum term. It would have been more expensive but you cant always have your cake and eat it :P.

I can understand your position if you were moved to an unbundled exchange, but not for leaving the country.

How much are they charging you? Have a look here and check if it's right.

Much as I detest Talk Talk, they did not force you to enter an 18 month contract.

I only ever use companies with a 30 day contract.

Why should you get it waivered for?? How are you any different to anybody else? You are choosing to terminate a contract less than a 3rd of the way through. Surely you knew 7 months ago you'd be leaving the country?
