Christmas Fantasy at Butlins, anyone been?

Options
I know its still summer but we want to get it booked soon!

What is it like? I havent been to Butlins for about 8ish years so havent a clue what its like now.

What activities are there? I heard theres a pantomine? Is everything free e.g. all the shows?

Thinking of staying in Silver appartment at Skegness. Our Daughter will be nearly 3 so I think she will love it, our Son will be about 2 months.... Im unsure about taking a baby so small but he'll be wrapped up in his pram when we are out and about.

Any advice is really helpful! Dont want to book it and then regret it.

  • I will watch this post with interest as looking into it but at minehead, we love Christmas and would love a christmassy holiday
    Debt free wannabe
Littlewoods - £214.82 (DD set up so 0%)
    Very - £100 (0% on BNPL - 1/4/13)
    CC - £2600/£3533.53 (0% until 1/6/14)
  • it's great. we have been to minehead for the last 5 xmases at different times over the xmas period. when we were just a couple we went in the bit between xmas and new ytear and since our daughter came along we have been to the short break before xmas. we have been to Skegness and the minehead one

There is a free panto - you get your tickets on arrival with a designated date and time sometime over the holiday.

There's a winter wonderland grotto where you meet santa at the end and get a present (DD got a 15 inch butlins supersoft teddy in the shops at £10 or £12 i think)

All the areas are decorated with the usual xmas stuff. There's a HUgE tree in the skyline. Loads of lights outside in the trees etc

All the entertainment is free. busy and you may have to queue but worth it for some of the shows - especially as you have a little one.

Don't scrimp on accomadation if you can afford. NEVER go standard IMO! we have tried silver room (ok - not much room with kids), silver plus apartment (nicer but forgot to ask for a downstairs one and had to carry the pushchair upthe metal stairs!) and deluxe (fan bloody tastic!).
we also stayed half board and the food was very good for the extra you pay. Also no hassle with buying food, cooking etc.

Check out the undercover fair rides - they are free and would be suitable for a 3 year old. used to be noddyland but now think it's bob the builder land.

Swimming is free too and there's a variety of pools and things suitable for a 3 year old.

You can hire cots, highchairs even buggies too if you can't get everything in the car. Check at the hire shop.

OOOH and at the Skegness one there's a spa for adults. You have to pay for treatments but as a new mum you'll deserve it.

Take plenty of hats, gloves etc and lots of warm stuff for the little one - it'll be cold cold cold!

My daughter was 2yr 8 MONTHS when we took here and she loved it.

Anything else you want to know?
