DON'T DO IT - It's a Nigerian scammer. You won't get your money as there will be something wrong with the payment. Sell it to the next UK bidder.

  • From what i recall though technically if a WU order is found to be fake you can be persued for cashing it. There was a lady in the USA who dealt in horses that repeatedly had this problem. She would ask them for the cheque and just hand it over to the police when it arrived. Better to just chalk it up to experience and move on.

    Jane,

I agree - unfortunatly we often learn by our mistakes. I should be OK for next time. Ive contacted ebay, just waiting to hear.

Are there CS any good? Should I expect a prompt reply and resolution?

Thanks again for the effort and advice.
    Cheers, Jordan

They are usually pretty spot on with the nigerian thing, dont feel to bad about it, its happened to me twice when I was selling my sons Mobile phone, they seem to target those listings more.

Even after I had put in big bold red letters "I WILL NOT SHIP TO NIGERIA" and put a block outside bidders on it was won on a BIN by a nigerian registered in the UK. Just one of those things that despite all your best efforts you cant really prevent.

  • just had the same problem - sold an item on ebay for 0.99 and received an email from paypal saying the buyer had paid £20.99 and this had been taken out of the buyers account but would not be put into my account until the item was sent!!! Also the address was Nigeria - Suprise!! Informed ebay who have just confirmed it is dodgy and also paypal. Make sure you don't click on the link if they have sent you a dodgy email as they find out your account details i think. Also i changed my paypal password to be on the safe side.
