Ryanair refund

Just a bit of help needed requesting a refund from Ryanair for some missed flights.
I'm reclaiming airport check in which I was charged at the desk on arrival (£40) but didn't use as my flight had already closed and also the air passenger duty which I believe is £11 on a flight to Barcelona.
Does APD only apply to the outbound flight or also the inbound?
Also my booking confirmation shows that there are no taxes or charges but is the APD charge hidden in the cost of the flight? surely it always needs to be paid.
PAYMENT DETAILS
********59.98 GBP Total Fare
*********0.00 GBP Taxes, Fees & Charges
********10.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Web Check in
********10.00 GBP Passenger Fee: Administration Fee
********79.98 GBP Total Paid
Thanks...

Won't an admin fee completely wipe out anything you might be able to claim back?0

I don't think so. I should be able to get the £40 back. Plus either £11 or £22 depending on the airport duty situation.
The admin fee is £14 so cuts a lot out but the rest is mine and I'd rather claim it than leave in their grubby hands.
Just need to work out the airport duty. Is it hidden in the cost of the flight I paid and is it both ways?0 -
It's paid by Ryanair regardless but if they haven't charged you it as a tax then chances are they can probably squirm out of it as they'll say you yourself haven't actually paid any.
EDIT: Well it is only actually paid if you're on the flight when it takes off, so it's even more likely they'll be able to avoid it. Although I'm not certain on rules.0 -
Why were you charged for airport check in if the flight was already closed? I would be surprised if they refund it.Gone ... or have I?0

Just to add, APD is only paid on flights taking off in the UK. There may however be a Spanish version from flights leaving Barcelona.0

I was charged because the time it took me to queue at one desk to pay to check in and then another to actually check in meant i missed the closing of the gate. Ultimately my fault for being so late but they wouldn't give me my money back there and then which I think is a joke seeing as they make you pay cash.
It's almost not worth the fight.
thanks all!0
