Absolutely, although some sellers of course still trust RM more than they trust buyers. One of the items I had delivered today is a widget I paid £3.99 for including free delivery and it came recorded delivery, how mad is that?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I do know what you mean,
But it seems as though letters & things that aren't worth anything seem to get delivered via Rec. delivery with no problem! (In my experience).
Plus, i don't exactly relish the thought of sending a letter via Sp. delivery for the princely sum of £5.05 . With that, i'll take my chances with Recorded.0 -

If it comes to me though and I was a crooked buyer you'd still lose a paypal chargeback as I never sign for anything.
Also check out all the other people on this thread as well who never gets things signed for. For paypal the item must show online as signed for, so recorded is not suitable.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Sounds a bit dodgy that he says he didn't get it after just a few days, maybe he received it, tried the tracking number and realised it had not tracked yet so tried to get a refund or the postie just left it at the front of his house and he did not sign for it?
I'm always suspiscious when I get an item not received query after just a few days. However it is possible that RM did lose it.
Hmmm, that's exactly what i think happened.
And to be honest, i refunded him as i presumed i'd receive my refund from R.Mail. I had no reason to think otherwise.
Whether the buyer was dodgy or not, i thought that the mere fact the tracking says "the item is still progressing through our system" was proof enough that the item had not been delivered or signed for!0 -

There was nothing else you could have done really, there was no way of defending a paypal claim for item not received.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. .........I'm surprised there are areas where recorded parcels are left on their doorstep.
Nope, not at all.
I hardly ever sign for Recorded Delivery items either.
Some get posted through my letterbox and some get handed to me along with other packages,.......unsigned! (The Postman usually just runs off & jumps in his van before i realise there are Recorded's amongst them.

I'm curious to know what happens to unsigned recorded packages in terms of tracking for items that are left on people's doorsteps, I certainly hope the posties that indulge in such activities get sacked.
Exactly, which is why i know he hasn't signed for it.
As for the posties who are doing this getting the sack........i think R.Mail would be sacking a lot of Postmen!
One even moved my bin and placed a package behind it the other day!0 -

The point is that recorded is not tracked and postmen rarely bother to get signatures in some areas. The one i got this morning for instance was handed over to me by my postman with the rest of my mail, no sig required. I have not signed for a recorded now for a couple of years at least.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I do feel it is only a matter of time before one of my recorded items gets into the hands of a doorstep postie and I'm faced with the same problem.
What's the betting the buyers who failed to 'receive' these items do not confirm they did not receive them so that the seller loses out on compensation claims.
I tend to trust the buyer actually otherwise i would give up on ebay.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Even with recorded though that you have to chase RM if item doesn't arrive.
I had 1 loss last year, 4 so far this year (and two of those on Amazon) and send around 120 items a month mostly 2nd class. To send those 120 items recorded would cost me £88.80 a month, I would have to lose a great deal of my items to cover that loss from my profits.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
