Seems a very strange thing to pack in your luggage... especially in the heat we have been having... won't it go off? I wouldn't even attempt to do it , its going to smell for one thing and it might leak YUK!!! It won't be very 'fresh' by the time you get there..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Its something they do every time they come over and they normally drive. The butcher seals all the meat so no leaks i will put it into freezer bag so hopefully will keep it cool, That's why i think it will be better in my case. I think i can take up to 6kg can anyone confirm this too please
many thanks

Are you asking whether the airline will allow it - answer yes. As long as it's within weight/size limits
Or whether French customs will allow it? Dunno but I've never known them check except when the BSE crisis was on.0 -
I would personaly freeze it, by the time you get there it will partialy defrost and will be safe. We`ve done it a few times, we brought back homemade wine too in big plastic cola bottles - all allowed as long as you are within the stated limit. I would not take a fresh piece.0

They do have butchers in France.;)0

Think you should check what the importation rules are. Years ago, I was stopped coming back from France by ferry and told offf by a Customs guy at Dover for having sausages. He didn't take them off me but did say raw meat was not allowed.0

I've brough perishable foodstuff in a close fitting two part styrofoam box simular to this one but hollow. As long as your don't bring fluids, no problem with airport security.0 -

Unless this happened prior to 1973, when the UK joined the EU, then this wouldnt/shouldnt/couldnt happen.
All foods can be moved between EU member states as long as its free from disease and fit for human consumption, even during the bird flu situation we could'nt stop people arriving from any part of the EU with dead birds etc.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0
