Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Wed 21st July. 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
[*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine

Morning Doe, and all to follow,

Its a beautiful day here, sorry for thise with rain, but at least you are not having to water the garden.

Tea tonight is sausage chips and beans for the others, and sausage and salad for me.

Butterfly, I am from down south too, its been lovely weather, but we could do with rain for the garden, (only overnight though ;)), just seen the weather, we are meant to be getting storms later on this afternoon.

Ok better get on, DW needs putting on, and need to do my lunch.

    Have good days all xx

    Good Morning All

    :j:beer:Happy Birthday Snowy:beer::j

Sun is shining her at the moment so will get some washing on quick, DD has her last day at school & DS is enjoying his first lie in.

Think will be a pottering day today, DD is volunteering at our little local library over the holidays & needs to be dropped off tonight for a training session. DS has a healthy eating thingy at his boxing club so will try and fit some food inbetween.

I ordered a flip from Amazon (had some survey money) and am very impressed with it so far - its really simple to use and I like simple :rotfl:

Off now to finish my cuppa and check my banks, have a great day.x

Morning peeps well its freezing here, foggy with torrential rain forecast all day:eek:. So glad the boys are down south at least there they'll get some sun.

    Flutterby
glad the interview went well, you never you have got the job;). Enjoy your weekend with your brother.

Had a very unMSE tea last night. I stupidly took OH to a restaurant at the wrong time and paid full price for two courses ah well. We really enjoyed the food, the setting was gorgeous we could the sun setting iver the hills. so very romantic. After that we went for a drive where loads of sheep scared the life out of me, which OH thought was hilarious and had a pint in a country pub. Came back really late but we all really enjoyed ourselves.

OH is decluttered to work, so going to sow some more salad leaves. Repotted about 5 tomato plants so really pleased with that. Tonight were having either omelette + salad or pasta carbonara.
Also need to start prepping food for tomorrow as we've got friends coming round.

Have a good day all x

    Morning all

Dry, sunny and very warm here.

Finished work yesterday lunchtime and we go on holiday early hours of tomorrow morning, so really need to get my skates on, today I seem to have a list of jobs as long as my arm - haircut, bank, packing, housework, baking, ..... the list goes on.

May get back on later depends how I get on!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning All ,

LameWolf - do keep posting! It was lovely to "see" you yesterday - we've missed you
Flutterby - well done on the interview
    Essex girl - what's a flip?! Am I being really dense?? :o

Meant to be raining here later but it's still so warm I didn't know what to wear! So I'm wearing a shift dress but I've got proper shoes on rather than sandals so if I get wet, it's only my legs not my feet. Honestly, that sounded totally logical in my head :D

Meeting my DSD's for a spot of lunch today which will be MS in it's own way as I was due to take them shopping afterwards as a bit of a treat, but SD2 has got to get home for 3pm as she's going to see JLS in concert tonight. So it's just lunch which won't break the bank as they both eat like sparrows :rotfl:and then I might do a bit of shopping and buy me a present - I've got my eye on a goregous stock pot.

On my meal planner, tea tonight is pasta with bacon, peas and condencsed mushroom soup as the sauce, but I have a flaw in my plan as Tesco's didn't have any bacon at all! Will pop to the meat market before I go home and get some I think.

Have a lovely day, hugs to all in need/want xx

    Morning everyone.

Still no sign of rain here. Honestly it's madness with all you lot getting flooded up North and not a drop here in the middle!

Fan oven is broken :( Top oven and grill are working so must be the element. No idea how much that is going to cost to replace if it is that <sigh> So that's been the washing machine and now the cooker. What else of a large and expensive variety is going to break next
Haven't decided on tea tonight as wasn't sure top oven was working. Will go and sort that out in a mo.

Have been invited to school for afternoon tea party today so my usual couple of hours to rush round like a loon getting housework done will be spent having a cup of tea :D it's a dirty job but someone has to do it :rotfl:

Not read yesterdays thread yet so hugs to those that need them or are MIA. Have good day OS or not.

Lowesy - No you're not being dense :rotfl: I saw that too and wondered what it was. C'mon EG what's a flip???!

    Morning peeps,

Looks like the sun is coming out to play here, thank goodness, had awful rain the last week or so! But it has helped the garden.
I was very naughy last night and ordered take-away! Very very nice tho :D and deserved it.

Had a stressful couple of days. Tues evening i was doing the ironing when i heard a loud click and the lights went out...and the central heating...and the fridge/freezer! still had tv and the sockets all worked. Looked at the fuse box and flicked the switch back up...nothing happened...so i flicked it down then back up again...nothing
So i left it and went on with ironing then bed.
Last night i asked my dad to pop over and take a look, after a little bit of messing and flicking of switches he fixed the problem...or so i thought.5 mins after he left it went again Grrrr. So i did what he showed me...in fact i had to do that 4 times before giving up!!
I called Dad and he popped round again.Long story short,it was my fridge blowing the fuse-thingy so we turned it off and everything is working fine.
But i have no fridge/freezer!! I'd just done a food shop so everything was stocked up. I've had to cook the chicken breasts, mince x2 500g and sausages.Think the fish fingers will be okay.Got everything in mums freezer now but GRRRRRRRRRR :mad::mad: not good!!
Mum and dad are bringing their spare fridge/freezer round tonight (i say spare they have just brought a new one and about to take the old ones to the dump  got in there just in time).

Also had a packet of smoked salmon in there so question:
I brought it around christmas, they were on B1G1F and it went straight into the freezer, use by date jan 2010 obv this has now defrosted.I'm planning on making smoked salmon and blue cheese tartlets today, will the fish be okay?? it smells ok and looks ok but im a bit iffy when it comes to fish!!
    Thanks in advance!!

Managed to clean the whole of downstairs yesterday-i do usually start upstairs but it needed doing and visitors dont see the bedrooms-so i've gotta do the 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs today.First i need to pop to the post sorting office and collect a parcel they couldnt deliver yesterday-they say i was out but think this was when i was cleaning the shower and couldnt hear the bell.

    Sorry for the long post!!!

Hope you all have a lovely day

Now if I was super douper clever & techy I could post you a lovely link :rotfl:instead I will describe it for you - they are a little camcorder, about the size of a mobile. I have got the 2gb one which is an hours worth of video - you then just plug it straight into your PC & it is really easy to upload save put on facebook/send as email etc etc.

Its small enough for me to carry around all the time so I won't miss anything. Loads of places sell them but Amazon was the cheapest when I ordered it and had some vouchers from Lightspeed surveys.x
