Broadband Newbie!!!

Hi all,

I'm still on dial -up!!!!!!! LOL.

Bu want to join the BB gang as I need to keep the phone free.

So - who's the cheapest?

I currently pay £4.99 + £5 to BT for my dial-up.

I think one of these amounts will remain whoever I sign up to (?) but don't want to pay too much on top.

I'd be happy with 2Mb speed but would like unlimited download amount.

Anyone suggest anything (and no, I don't want to change my phoen supplier - this must stay with BT)

S_C :)

unlimited is quite a bit more than what you are paying for dialup.... but never-the-less, zazizam offer an unlimited 2Mb package for £21.99 - then you just pay your line rental to BT as normal

i recommend them, as I have used them for several years now - and haven't experienced any problems

something to bear in mind, is do you really need 2Mb.... if it is just because it is the fastest speed available to you, the only thing that will improve is downloading large files... web pages, and emails will not download any faster than on a 512Kb connection (well, maybe nano seconds faster - but that is about it!)

Well I currently have 42kbps connection, but would like to start downloading music and videos from friends. I can't even download photos to my Outlook Express at the mo, cause the dial-up connection times out.

£21.99 is a bit steep for me :(

Not sure how much I'd get for a limited download package though - don't want to be without the internet for half the month cause I've exceeded the limits!

if it is just music and videos (which I can only imagine the videos being only a few Mb big) - then 512Kb will be ok for you - which with zazizam is £15.99

    - depending on how much you download, you may get away with a 2GB cap, to put into a statistic - you could download 200 5Mb tracks a month on this - which is quite ample for most

... most providers let you go over a cap, if you pay £X per extra 1GB - most providers will do this automatically

I hate to say it but maybe aol will suit your needs.

Its 14.99 a month but its unlimited but only upto 1 meg a sec.

But I think your be hard pushed to find a cheaper better deal.

Ok, well the 1Meg AOL sounds good - but are they? Heard mixed things about their service!

Cautious of zazizam as I've never heard of them! Maybe a 2Gb cap isn't so bad. I won't be downloading THAT much music! LOL

Thanks guys - all a bit new to this! :o

in my experience, the smaller/unheard of providers can normally provide a better service than the AOL's and BT's of this world - but this is down to personal experience
