Three Network
Options
Hi Guys
Im looking at taking out an iphone contract with three. Just wondering, has anyone got any history with them?
I know a friend of mine used them years ago and the signal was poor, which is putting me off a little, but im wondering if much has changed since then?
Thanks,

I've had two stints with Three and never really had a problem with them. I'm probably not the best one to comment, however, as the village where I live has a massive Three aerial in the middle of it so signal is never a problem. If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button

Never had a problem with 3, used them for over 3 years0

used them for a while with mobile broadband and a phone contract, havent had a single problem, no signal issues, infact recently since they have been updating the network ive been getting faster speeds on my dongle, my contracts are up for renewal in a couple of months and will be sticking with them.0

On my fourth contract with them - Coverage is very good and if I have had a problem they have compensated me - Aerial problem in one area resulted in a free month.
I'm either very lucky or their customer service is very good.0 -
Coverage for me was bad.....turned out it was a problem with my phone (Nokia 6500 slide apparently had loads of bother!) rather than the network!
Just taken a 24 month contract with them and everything has been great so farSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Yep, been on 3 for four months after being on O2 and there is no difference, infact, the 3G signal is far superior on 3.
The one downside is their call centres, hard (for me anyway) to understand a word they say.
I will deffo renew in eight months going on experience so far."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
I am a little confused about the Iphone thing.
If Iphones - particularly Iphone4 - are dropping calls to such an extent Apple are refunding money or offering some sort of rubber condom with them, why are people still buying them, regardless of which network they are on??0 -
I've been with them for a couple of months, and I'm quite dissapointed with the signal. Wasn't expecting much in our village, as no network has good coverage- but it's almost impossible to even send a text from here, and the signal throughout our bit of rural kent (and even into some towns) is pretty poor.DTD...Dreading The Detox.0

The network has got loads better recently, possibly to do with them merging with T-Mobile's 3g infrastructure.
I have a Nokia 6500 slide and always have a strong signal (I'm mostly in Norwich and London)
One word of caution about iPhones on Three; I've just cancelled my upgrade to iPhone 4 (was due next week) because it came to light that they have content filtering on their internet service. It doesn't matter how old you are, they think we all need protecting as though we are kids from the darker corners of the web. They are the ONLY uk network to make this mandatory. You can't opt out of it. (The other providers will have a safe mode if you turn it on or request it.) You can find their official statement on this here:
(Turns out I can't post links... find the three uk website, go to the blog, search for a thread called iPhone 4 on Three. On July 20 there was a lengthy post by the Moderator that set out the policy)0
