Could be the Hilton in Beetham Tower. It's certainly a famous landmark and is iconic. And from what I've just looked at, it matches the description well.

MrTomato beat me to it...can't be much more iconic than that one surely.

The bit about award winning spa makes me think it is the Hilton too.
Though technically Deansgate station is closer than Oxford Rd think that is a mistake on their part.

Does it have a restuarant ... I normally use that to get name ... or search for some of the description in google ... often that brings up the answer.

Bit mystifying this. I thought first of the Radisson (VERY iconic building) and the Hilton but I'm sure they are both 5 star hotels, not 4 star. And as someone pointed out, the nearest station to the Hilton is Deansgate, not Oxford Road.
I also thought about the Palace, again an iconic building but I'm not sure if it has a leisure centre or pool.
So , I'm tempted to say it's the Midland, very close to Oxford Rd station.
Def not the McDonald, it's right next to Piccadilly station.
If you book it please let us know which it was as I'm a bit intrigued!

Hilton is def only 4 star. I thought of The Palace too but they don;t have a Spa and their pet policy is different- guide dogs only.

It may not be the Hilton as the check in times are different.
