Had to ring Equifax as I've noticed Shop Direct have made 2 credit checks on my current address for the VERY catalogue.

It was very difficult explaining to the person about a double search, also there is credit info that should of dropped off a few weeks ago!

She sounded like she was from the Phillappines? Definitely not an Indian call centre, she was very pleasant but so difficult to communicate with.

I've normally always spoken to a person in Ireland?

    Hi

I always use the online dispute centre when I have a problem with Equifax.

    https://equifaxuk.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/equifaxuk.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php?p_sid=pymz8t5k

They respond pretty quickly and effectively.

    Regards

I rang the phone number on their website and normally it has gone through to their Eire centre. Last time I did an online dispute it took them 5 days to respond, so thought I'd ring them.
Took ages to explain and an 0844 number is about 5p a minute,so the cost as well.

Been doing a Google, but can't find anything out about them outsourcing to Asia?

They are bloody useless, aren't they?

I usually demand to be transferred to Ireland once I get frustrated enough - the Irish folk are genuinely helpful and can actually do things to solve problems.

I felt frustrated today, the length of time on the phone and cost and the fact she didn't understand the problem!

I've always found the advisors' in Ireland good to deal with,

I had to call Equifax myself today, too.

I had no idea they'd set up an offshore call center, but they certainly are useless! And they are taking longer and longer to start actioning disputes raised on their website. I've waited over a week for one and they haven't even contacted the creditor. Not a whisper nor a peep.

They seem to be tackling the increase in consumer awareness of credit histories and inaccuracies very badly indeed. Not impressed.

At the end of the day if they don't want Joe consumer to raise so many disputes and call so often they should go through more stringent data integrity vetting before allowing their customers (creditors) to upload data to our credit files, not farm the work out to incompetent foreigners who are unfit to do the job...

The idea of having credit refference agencies moving their call centers off shore seems like a national security disaster just waiting to happen...dear oh dear.

Yeah, unfortunately, I had a nightmare experience a couple of weeks back with the Equifax call centre. Seems they've shipped their entire operation out to The Philippines. You're right Curt. seems like a national security disaster waiting to happen. The girl in the call centre just could not understand my problem. Eventually I insisted on speaking to someone in the UK and got put through to a manager in Eire (she knew less than the girl in The Philippines!!). She told me I had to put my enquiry in writing and that it would take around 20 days to get a reply because they are currently training up their new team in The Philippines and were experiencing some difficulties!! I've raised an online dispute now, but still waiting on a reply!! Get your act together Equifax!!

"National security disaster" - tad melodramatic don't you think? If the Philipines were so keen to get their hands on this data they could have just put someone in the UK/Ireland call centre by now - or paid someone already working there...

No, way to misunderstand my point....

And not really melodramatic either, just a concern on personal data that could get into the hands of the wrong people. Its not the Phillipinnes that is the problem as a nation - they are a strong ally and generally that tends to lead to more anger from their people at nations such as the US and EU nations. They are not as vocal as neighboring nations' citizens such as Indonesians but with the risk that is evidently present from Islamic terrorists in such nations a very easy way to infiltrate and attack our financial systems woukd be through sensative details that could be passed on to terrorists. And giving them such an understanding of an entire nation's credit scoring and financial assesment system seems like a much easier way for them to be able to get cards and money easy either fraudulently or once into the UK to fund whatever they need it for. It may even seem like conspiracy theories or whatever else but its just asking for trouble; why even risk it?

Its not the country that is the issue - if anything their closeness to us causes difficulty amongst its peoples.
