LOL - me too! My Dad used to read that to me when I was little and couldn't sleep. Ahhh...happy memories.

I hope to 'whoever' that when I have children I remember all that stuff from when we were kids...you know billy goat gruff.....puff the magic dragon.......and other stuff which I can't kind of remember now ...not the name of anyway?0 -
I have made some really good friends on here during which has probably been a rough time at some stage to us all hence the visit to this part of the forum, but I am all for tough love and if I have a friend who is being a tit or needs some straight talking then if I didn't tell them then what kind of a friend does that make me? Sure I could lose a friend and have done in the past but patting some people on the back and almost encouraging them that it will all be ok without putting the effort in is just plain stupid.
Too many make believe's in the world as opposed to make and do! I may not be perfect but a straight and honest answer will always be what you get from a spot of Shay coaching!0 -

I'm with you on this one.....you do try to make friends understand where they are going wrong...in the nicest possible way maybe...but if they are not willing to listen there is !!!!!! all that you can do but be there for them....that's what I've found anyway...0 -
I have just been reading a thread and it has made me really quite upset how agressive and almost bullying some posters can be. I think there is a definite difference between a post which could be interpreted in the wrong way, and an attack on people whom have a different opinion to themselves.
I would never post in any of the heated threads in response to these because if I don't have anything nice to say I will not say it at all, and if it is ever misconstrued in a different manner then it is purley due to ineloquent typing, and secondly as I am a complete coward I would not wish to be at the receiving end of one of these personal attacks.0 -
Just recently people asking for help are getting a lot of stick. Why are people being so offensive to people who are asking for help?
The poor guy whose GF had dropped 10 grand of debt on him somehow became the one at fault, someone else had their thread frozen after people became abusive towards them and poor Up the creek is apparantly going to bring the country down. What is going on?0 -
I agree with this thread. I answered one post, recently, and another poster, who obviously had not read the whole thread, lambasted my post with a totally unsolicited rant. Since I told poster I did not agree with his/her post, I received a very abusive reply, and now several of my posts, in other threads have been 'nit-picked' (Sorry no reference to Triker's excellent thread) by this poster. I find this particularly offensive as I am in the main trying to learn from people on this forum and in sharing my opinion, and experiences, I hope I am also putting something back in.
It would appear, looking at other posts by this particular poster, that he/she has upset many other posters in the past - there is also reference to him/her having been expelled from other debt forums. Also seems strange that in a year of being on this forum and several hundred posts, there are no threads started by this person.
Do some people get their kicks by kicking others?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Well in general, the best advice is to not feed the trolls. Or the spammers for that matter - but:livinginhope wrote:Have to agree that there have been some 'nasties' on here lately,I received some nasty PMs from a couple of people too chicken to 'speak' to everyone else,
You can report offensive PM's too, and I would encourage people to do so. Also, if you click on someone's name and they go into their profile, then you can click on "Ignore" and you should never hear from them again."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

The only problem with 'Ignore' is that whilst you can't see the offensive post everyone else can.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
