Sky remote volume problem

The volume on my sky remote will not function,though everything else does. Have got codes and tried Sky's solution and various others, the problem being when it says hold select and red buttons together and watch LED light blink twice the remote won't allow that to happen. Have changed batteries and LED on remote, and remote overall is ok, as if it was u/s the LED would'nt flash and all other functions would not function either.

You have to press 'TV' first before you hold red/select.What verson of the remote do you have? It'll say in the battery bay on a small sticker.
