My nana and grandads 60th wedding anniversary this thursday and I desperatly need some help with a present idea. We are absolutly skint at the mo too. Would find the money off parents etc if someone had a bargain they'd seen etc. Have £800 tesco deal vouchers but all I can seem to find is a magazine subscription for them both. Anyone any ideas or think the magazines are good/bad? They dont travel much so hotel is no good.

Where did they get married? Is there anything that you could get them to remind them of the place - a nice framed print or something unique to the area?Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

How about getting some small photos of all the members of the family at various stages, as babies, schoolgirl/boy, wedding, special occasions etc and putting them round the outside, with a larger picture of your nan and grandad in the middle. It would show all that they have achieved as a couple, and happy memories from over the years. Makes a lovely keepsake that they can display proudly. The cost would be just the frame, and im sure your parents could help you out with some of the photos.
Hope this helpsExperience is the toughest teacher because she gives the test first then the lesson

i was going to say.. if you could do a mini scrapbook of pictures... of family.....etc......or if you could get your hands on a photo of their wedding.day.... and get a copy done in the photogrphers...and put it in a nice frame....
its really hard.....or can you take them to a nice resturant with your.. deal vouchers ?.......
or get some one to take them out of the house for a few hours... and make and then make candle lit dinner for 2 in their own home.......so when they come back.. it will be a suprise for them.. with flowers etc.....
sorry cant come up with anything else exciting..Work to live= not live to work0 -
What about buying one of those nice arty hardbound blank notebooks and copying out their favourite poems, bible passages, hymns, bits from favourite books etc. Do it in your best handwriting of course
?You could add nice postcards and greetings cards too.
I did this for all my relatives one Christmas and it went down very well with my grandmothers. You don't have to fill the book, leave most of it blank for your grandparents to add to.0 -
How wonderful to be celebrating 60 years of marriage!! Have you thought about getting them a copy of the newspaper from the day they were married? AFAIK it is relatively cheap - you can find out how to get one online quite easily.Jane

I think the magazine subscriptions is a great idea. They must be pretty old to have been wed 60 years (wow, what an achievement!) so having that to look forward to every month, and to sit and read when they are too tired to do much else, would I am sure be very much appreciated.

Thanks for all your reply's. I dont live near them so its difficult with kids etc to take them out, the scrapbooks are a good idea except its a little late for me as its on Thursday and photos are all 50 miles away. Plus we have one of the biggest families in history! I'll think of this for xmas though! Love the old piccie of wedding idea!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

What about a white rose bush if they have a garden for a "diamond" rose _ I have seen yellow ones offered for golden weddings and now isn't a bad time to be planting“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
