Thanks everyone for the feedback! Have finally decided to stick to Cardiff and surronding areas. As we are travelling Friday evening -hope to be in Cardiff about 10pm to start early on the Saturday
Would anyone be able to recommend good B&B's around that area... As am a big fan of trying local food -one that does good Brekkie with local produce would be fab!
Traffic into Wales on the M4 on a Friday night is murder. Leave Cambridge at lunchtime and you should have a smooth run.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I know some people who have stayed in The Big Sleep which sounds nice and is right in the city centre. Budget rooms are quite reasonably priced - http://www.thebigsleephotel.com/home.asp?hotelid=1
The one time I had to go to Cardiff I stayed in the Marriott which was great but then again I wasn't paying.The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
