All Is Not Well at VODAFONE:mad:..!!!!!!!
I could really do with your apinion with problems I'm having with VODAFONE:mad:,,,,,I have to say there customer relations/sevices are rubbish even a joke:rotfl:,,,,,I had a pay monthly phone with vodafone until recently,,,,,To some up what has happened I got paid late after starting work at a different company,,,,Vodafone over several days kept trying to take the money from my account leading to me having to pay around £250:eek: in bank charges,,,,To stop this in the short term I stopped the direct debit.....Vodafone without so much as a call to myself in order to find out what was going on took it upon them selves to cancel my contract and ship me out to debt collection agency:o who now keep calling me on what was to be just my temp pay as you go number and then telling me that they cannot discuss the account with me despite having given them my wife's number on more then one occasion plus the Vodafone password and all I wanted to do was pay them some money......If all that wasn't bad enough they are trying to charge me £500:eek: for canceling my contract which I neither asked them to do or wanted,,,,It just gets worse from here as I lost money from work through not having my phone on,,,plus my business cards I paid for are now know use as Vodafone tell me that my number is now in the dead numbers department and can't be re used and at no piont did they inform me of a 90 day payment period......I tried on several occasions to pay the bill of £160 but as the account was my wife's name I had know authorisation despite having set up a pass word on the account... I have now been left hung out to dry now as vodafone would not let me pay the bill now I have authorisation on the account and tell me I have to pay the debt collectors £767.86:eek: when all I had was a £160 phone bill.....I am at the end of my tether with this very un customer friendly company who don't deserve the light of day let alone people spending money with them.......

Please can you help me take on VODAFONE:mad: as I am not sure what to do from here........

Help...!!!!!!!!!!!Anyone:money:

Best Wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,VS.

  • I do not like Vodafone either and think their customer service is rubbish.

    HOWEVER...

I feel you have been very, very unwise in your actions. Whilst it may be a little heavy handed of them to pursue this action, your actions must have sent alarm bells ringing with them. The golden rule of mobiles is you never cancel direct debits. You have stopped a payment to a company you owe money to, it is not their fault you changed jobs. When they tried to take money several times it appears you have not tried to enter a dialogue with Vodafone at all.

As far as I can see you have two options. One, pick up the phone to them, explain everything, grovel and apologise at your error and hope they will start your service back up without any extra fees. The second option is pay up or get taken to court, risk a CCJ against your name and that means tough credit for the next six years.

I cannot see any way of you getting your bank fees back either.

Probably not the take on the issue you wanted, but it is an honest and realistic one.

    Hi,

I would also suggest that you re-post (or edit you original post) to get rid of the bold .... makes it very difficult to read!!

I dont have much sympathy here, you made a mistake and instead of rectifying it and making every effort to pay you made the worst possible decisions and as such you owe every last penny. As for them not letting you access the payment details, why should they, its not in your name and your authorisation is down to their discretion.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.
  • Hi chaps,,,,,,Cheers for the info,,,,I just wondered what you mean by very very unwise in my actions,,I had to stop the DD or they would have cleaned me out,,,,they deffo did not have to just ship me to collection agency that just tells me they can't be bothered to help customers out if somthing happens......That should be off bold text now guys......

Well cancelling the direct debit breaks the terms and conditions of the contract which you agreed to, so Vodafone can pretty much do anything they want, like bar your line and pass you straight to collections. It's extremely harsh though them doing it this quickly. How long did you leave it before contacting Vodafone?

You'll have an issue speaking to collections on behalf of your wife, a password on Voda's systems wouldn't get forwarded onto the debt collectors. The debt collectors have to abide by the DPA, as do Vodafone so it would easier all round if your wife dealt with this issue.

You may end up paying this very expensive lesson but in future, when dealing with networks, if you can't afford on your normal payment date, let them know! Most networks will allow for situations like this and change the date of the direct debit to suit you better.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

In Voda's defence you admit they tried several times to take the money out though so it is not as though this was once then straight to the debt collector. I don't like defending Voda at all as they are not on my Christmas card list (particularly the Director's office) after the way they have treated unlimited internet customers like me; but from the sequence of events none of this appears to be Voda's fault and you haven't made the effort to tell them there could be a problem paying them early on.

Whilst some companies do make allowances if you are unable to pay, Voda don't have to if you cannot pay as imagine how many people would try it on if they did. Also whilst I sympathise with you changing jobs, it is not Voda's fault you changed jobs so why should they be sympathetic if you take it to a black and white level?
  • Many Thanks,,,Miss Keith,,, I did get in touch with them and told them that as soon as I did get paid I would sort the bill out,No worreys I thaught,,, plus I spent more than what the bill was in bank charges instead of paying Vodafone,,,... Its just the amount now to pay does not fit the crime if you know what I mean....I hope to sort it some how...

    Best Wishes,,,,,,
  • If you are lucky you may get a Vodafone company rep who sees this thread (they have software that trawls the web identifying posts like this and their staff regularly monitor this forum); they may take pity and meet you halfway on the costs somehow.

Im freelance so im always changing jobs and do somtimes have to chase up payments,,,,I have seen reports on this forum before saying that vodafone can't be bothered to look after the hands that feed them i.e. the customers us you and me and this is a bad trait to have....I would never have gone with vodafone had I known that the simple lack of care and the tough luck attitude were so in force,,,,But I can honestly say that from what I have seen we don't matter to them.......

As I mentioned earlier I am not Vodafone's biggest fan either, but in fairness you have caused the problem you are now in and Vodafone on this occasion cannot be held responsible.
