Hi I wonder if anyone can help
My laptop was sent for a warranty repair, the problem is it probably needed a new battery as sometimes when I pull out the cable the laptop would turn off even when fully charge.
So its been two weeks now and Im still waiting
I called them and they said that they are going to install the following hard ware.
A new hard Drive
A CPU (processor)
A motherboard
A battery
A Cable
They are now saying they need a new hard drive and motherboard.
On top of all this I was told by the agent when I booked my computer for repair that I do not need to worry about backing-up data as, they would just put a new battery and Ill receive it in a few days.
I phone them up now and they told me that don't care about the data and the likelyhood is I lost it all as that hard drive goes back to the manufacturer (although the manager will do what he can)
Im worried as to if Il get my laptop back and what shape it will be in, can any one offer advice on what I can do if anything.
Also why would the CPU, Motherboard and Hard drive need replacing in the first place, the computer was working fine apart from that little problem had no issues with it in the past.

I'm afraid that you should always back up your data before sending a laptop away for any repair, you can never rely on them not to reformat it at the very least.
Sounds like they might just a well give you a new laptop as there won't be much left of the old one but the chassis and screen. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Thats what I was thinking myself, 2 hard drives and motherboards, it probably come cheaper for them to give me a new one, I wonder how long Ill have to wait now.
I should of backed-up I guess but I just expected a new battery and nothing else, like the man said, and plus all the CDs ill need for the back-up, as its a 500GB hard drive.0 -
Whether or not you back up depends on how much you value the info. My desktop gets backed up, my laptop doesn't as there's nothing on it I'd miss.0

I have a lot of contact with the manufacturers, were i work it's part of my job to book the laptops returned to us as faulty with the manufactures and some are better than others, Samsung seem to be the best with Acer one of the worst just now.
Sorry though, we do not sell Advent so i have never had to deal with them so carn't let you know what there like0 -
