And yes, I'm hoppinig to become a profitable business, selling both online & at car boot sales. If all works out, then I can sign-of the dole and become a saelf-supporting trader.

So in the meantime your going to screw over sellers untill you learn the ropes. Whilst the seller being regd as a buisness pays tax and subsideses your dole.

And also competing against another seller whilst selling on your goods.

Hope the seller see's this thread and tells dole.

    changing of subject

i have looked at auction its got carp in....low profit and 10 a penny items.

When i look at and auction like this, i look at what needs writen off. And common sense says the ink carts are a write off. As they are returns. They have been returned for a reason.

    ok lol

    Tip time

buy bulk lots were you know 100% you will make some sort off profit.

I personally look for 400%+ profit on low price items.

Only take a chance on items if you know 100% you will break even.

i am not interested in making one pound per item. I let the people fiddlin the dole take care of that LOL

hope this help or makes you think

Actually, I've been on ebay for over 10 years (ever since it bought-out Freeserve Auctions. However, up until May, I had a good secure job. Now my former employers have relocated to France and work is getting scarce. With most jobs being either p/t, or requiring experience that I don't have, hence the decision to try and go it alone.

BTW, I've had several joblots over the years, and have always had an immediately sellable rate of 60% or better.

If the seller wants to get in a spat, that's up to them. At the end of the day, there's always a Paypal dispute option if the ebay doesn't work.

As for declaring what I earn, yes, I tell the Jobcentre (I pay myself £5.00 per week, and only work 45 minutes). As for HMRC, I've been registered as self-employed since 1991 (even though I have been PAYE since 1993.) so no problems there

    OP

You edited your post after I responded so i did not see your other comments.....if you have had a 60% success rate with previous sellers why did you not go back to them? What sort of stuff were those previous sellers selling, as the stuff in the last batch you bought was 'very obviously' IMHO not going to turn you a fortune?

OP - Everything has a value to a certain extent even used printer cartridges. There are loads of adverts on Ebay for old and empty cartridges and quite a few sales on completed listings too, just needs a bit more work to make some cash.

Which is more "dodgy" someone selling untested returns, or someone claiming the dole while working?

I have no problem with sellers selling untested returns as long as they are described as such (which I believe the seller named here did).

I do believe that you have to have realistic expectations of such purchases though, and even if the items do not live up to expectations then I also believe you should not start a SNAD. Of course if the seller states that 'at least 60% of items work' and they don't then that is SNAD but this seller did not do this, and I don't think many sellers of 'untested/spares/repairs/cust returned' items do state this, as they open themselves up for claims...and of course if they are GENUINELY untested then how would the seller know what percentage work

I do however have a problem with the second half of your sentence

There's nothing 'dodgy' about reporting my earnings to the Jobcentre every time I sign-on.

Surely buying joblots to flog on ebay is working?

Is not working while on the dole a bit naughty?

I've always thought "untested" = "broken" when it comes to ebay, but then I'm a bit of a cynic.
