How many Tesco's do you know that do not have ATMs nearby?

And you do not need an overdraft - you can (and should) craft your own buffer. You would think on this part of the board people might have learned from previous mistakes and would have started sensible practices. Apparently not.

Unless you have experience of bankruptcy then maybe you should keep your comments to yourself love.. ;) not everyone is an expert when it comes to saving and budgeting, and bankruptcy certainly doesn't mean that they will be any better. It's a lot harder actually as you don't have any back up funding at all.

It takes time and practice to get into the habit of writing absolutely every transaction down, not relying on your online banking/atm balance etc. I'm on my 2nd full month of the little notebook routine, and I'm still struggling with it all.

True, but it is something we all need to learn to do and to do it fast otherwise we will end up in the !!!! again.

well, i am discharged now but natwest still won't give me an account (but that is a whole other rant.. lol) but with co-op, i find if i check my balance at atm, i can ge the info i need as it will tell me my account balance (that is same as internet) and my AVAILABLE balance. it can be a pain sometimes having to check before pending but i have not really had any probs in the three years i have had the account.. saying that, the only time i have is with telephone payments to london energy but i stopped doing that now and do it via bank trnsfer. i really want another bank account closer to home but where i am, it doesn't seem to be possible. unless you are willing to be treated like a second class citizen which i refused! ho-hum!

current info is always available on atm so use that avenue each time you need curren info. hope that helps. x

I have had a co-op account now for 4 years. Infact I now have 3 cashminder accounts. So that I put the money for the rent etc in one account. The money for my fostering in a second, and whats available for spending in the third. It works well, but I just go on line everyday, check that things are going the same way, and with careful budgeting I have managed.
Having been bankrupted, I am so careful now. I still dont keep my computer figures upt todate:o enough, but I usually know where I am.
I have worked out a budget, so that we can live on the income we have, and have managed to build a buffer zone in my rent account of £250, and want to build it up to the full months rent, at £500 so keeping it topped up, when ever I get a few pounds left over in one account, and income has gone in, I just transfer it accross.

the only problem Ihave had is that I cannot use the Electron cards to order from Mr T, but Mr A is fine.
I have now one of those prepay cards, that I use, for those few transactions that will not accept Electron, and take it on holiday, with a small amount on it, £100, just incase I have a problem.

    Works for me.
2 months ago now, I was able to open an ISA and now a savers account.! So I am getting there again,. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and I have not needed to borrow from anywhere. Although it was tight last year/earlier this year, I am getting there.

    Good luck,
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Mooloo the cards are now Visa Debit and not Electron. They are being changed over as their expiry dates come up and they can be used with Mr.T :)

But they are still classed as visa electron for some places.
HAve you used yours for Mr T? cos I'm getting really fed up with ASDA.

No I haven't personally used mine for Mr.T as I have had issues with my local branch and am loath to use them now. I am a Sainsbury's girl I am afraid.

BUT having said that, there are a lot of posts on here where people have used them lately and have had deliveries from Tesco with no problems what so ever. So it looks like Tesco has sorted it's banking problems out.

I'm sure I've read that I have one of the Visa Debit but still Electron and it begins 4508.

So if you have a card that starts with anything else then it may work.. :)
