Wedding Favors

  • We had personalised bookmarks with a lovely message on them including the dates and names, some Thorntons heart choccies and little champagne bubbles (which were 39p each from the cheapie shop!).
The bookmarks are really unique and everyone loved them as they're practical as well as a keepsake.

Other favours include candles, photo keyrings (of the bride & groom - these are nice as thankyou's with a snap of the day), confectionery such as chocolates or candy 'love hearts', fresh and artificial flowers.
The problem is the time limit really. There are many other more personal favours you could make up but they'd take too long.

Confetti as suggested has a message board called 'cafe' thats full of brides to be with ideas - try asking there as well as searching the site for ideas. They also have a sale!
Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you![/SIZE]

There's some great ideas in those last posts.

Just looked in mail and confetti.co. etc etc are doing these:

personalised chocolate lollipops with bride & groom motif
    product code: W58579 £1.99
and silver/white personalised chocolates - price: £0.60 on the same page.

But I like the last two posts best :D
  • Hi there,

We got married in June last year and we had little tubes of Love Hearts as our favours. I got them from Confetti and they went down really well! I wanted to avoid the sugared almonds too cos I hate them and don't know anyone who eats them!

We had a disposable camera on each table - make sure you get one with a flash, and tell your guests to use it because if they don't the photos are really dark.

I can't remember where I bought them from now but I know it was online, and they were cheap. Sorry, that doesn't help much does it?! I'll have a think/search and let you know.

    Good luck with the planning!

    Maggie.

  • Hi again Frank.

Here are a couple of links to cheap disposable cameras:

I gave flowers to my DH's Mum and a different gift to my Mum (said she didn't want flowers!).

As for who sits where on the top table, see here:

Other ways to save money are to have a sponge cake instead of a fruit cake, or not to have one at all. I didn't bother because we had some lovely desserts and people are usually too full for cake. However, my two lovely aunties surprised me and made a fantastic tower of cupcakes, individually iced and decorated :-)

Just another couple of ideas for you Frank - if you've got the time!!

Favours and things to put them in can be found at http://www.weddingservices4u.co.uk - fast and relaible delivery, good prices too.

We are about to burn about 80 CDs to give to our guests complete with covers that we have designed and printed. The total cost per CD is something like £1.75 for the bits you need and then just the time and energy to do the hard work.

Two weeks and counting to my own wedding.......................

    cheers

I went to a wedding last year and they had love heart sweets in a little bit of see through voile or gauze, tied with ribbon which I thought was a good idea and inexpensive.

I didnt have favours at my wedding and I dont think anyone noticed!!! thats even less expensive, if not a little tight.....

mind you I didn't know I was meant to have them!
  • some good ideas here. were hoping to get married next year.

another tip is get one of the bridesmaids to get everyone to sign a guest book. it will be a lovely momento for you.

When we got married I made my own favours - I bought almonds from the "weigh" shop (you know, the ones with the bins that you just weigh out what you want) and got the pre-cut circles from a local shop in the high street.

You could do similar, but use pick and mix or some nice thorntons wrapped chocs instead if you dont like almonds.

We got a friend to do the photos for us, he's not a professional but he had a decent camera and took some lovely pics, plus because we invited him to the whole day as a guest he was able to take some pictures at night as well.

I bought our photo album from the Debenhams sale, it was £20, and got a matching book for people to write messages in, which is a great idea as there's just not enough time to talk to everybody!

Another friend had a Mercedes as his company car and he drove me to the registry office etc.

As for flowers, we bought a nice bouquet for both mothers, and also my husbands gran (who was 88!) (my gran couldnt go).

All the flowers I got from the Flower Company, I had a bouquet for myself and one each for both bridesmaids, plus button holes for all the men, a nice one for my Dad and the Best Man and a different one for the Groom - the whole lot (including mothers flowers) came to about £70.

I just pop in now and then.... :)

When I got married I brought candy sticks (like the ones you hang on xmas trees) to give as favours, I tied a bit of ribbon round them (to match the wedding colours) and then hung them on the wine glasses on the tables. It worked out really cheap.

Another popular idea is giving packets of sweets called Love Hearts. Sainsbury's have these on offer at the moment (due to Valentines day) - a pack of 4 tubes is 59p but is also buy one get one free so you end up with 8 packets for 59p. BARGAIN!!

Good Luck - I wish you all the best.
