Beware - I just got a reasonable online quote with Admiral, went to pay for it and they want to charge me a whopping £4.50 extra to pay by credit card! (debit cards are free). If they weren't the cheapest quote I've had by a mile I'd tell 'em where to go.

Their profit margin on your premium is circa between 1% and 6% of the premium you paid. If you pay via credit card the credit card company will charge them around 1.5% commission which is some Insurers charge a fee if you pay via credit card, if you pay via debit card the commission they pay the card company is circa 50p irrespective of the size of premium which is why they waive the charge
  • I'm with Admiral, and I've had someone go into the back of my car, they farmed the claim out to Albany Assistance who handled everything, got my car repaired, and a hire car, and I didn't have to pay any excess, was pretty pleased with the result. If they provide me with a good quote next year, I might stay with them.
